2020 Season Policies & Procedures due to COVID-19

High Point Swim Club has implement policies and procedures regarding physical distancing and pool capacity in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. High Point Swim Club is following guidelines from Public Health Madison & Dane County. Policies and procedures will be updated if Dane County moves from Phase 2 to Phase 3 during the 2020 summer season.

Pool Capacity and Reservations for Open Swim

Currently, the number of people allowed in the swimming pool and on the deck area at any one time is limited to 85 people. To accomodate this reduced capacity, we are utilizing an online reservation system. Members are asked to sign up for a block of time (1 hour 45 minutes) with 15 minutes in between to clean up and disinfect. Open Swim swim is from 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM daily with the following time blocks:

10:30 AM - 12:15 PM
12:30 - 2:15 PM
2:30 - 4:15 PM
4:30 - 6:15 PM
6:30 - 8:15 PM
No sign-up required for 8:15 - 9:00 PM

Reservations can be made two days in advance of the desired time block.  The reservation system opens each day at 7:00 PM. So, for example, to make a reservation for Saturday, the signup is available starting at 7:00 PM on Thursday.

A reservation is required for each family member who will be at the pool, whether they are swimming or just sitting on the deck. The preferred method to reserve open swim time is via a free mobile app called "OnDeck." See mobile app instructions here: https://www.teamunify.com/rechpsd/UserFiles/Image/QuickUpload/reserve-open-swim-time-ondeck-app_071126.pdf

Another option is to log into your pool account on a PC. PC instructions here: https://www.teamunify.com/rechpsd/UserFiles/Image/QuickUpload/reserve-open-swim-time-website_051157.pdf

Designated Pool Deck Spaces

In order to maintain physical distancing, designated spaces will be establisged for families to sit in around the perimeter of the pool deck.

Check-In and Exits

In order to manage the flow of people entering and exiting the pool, members will still check-in at the front desk, but everyone will walk through the men's locker room and exit through the gate near the baby pool when leaving. If needed and supervised by pool staff, people will be able to exit the pool through the back gates or guard office.

Locker Rooms and Showers

Due to the need for social distancing within the pool building changes are being made in the check in procedure, the changing stalls, showers and toilets. The men's locker room will be closed. The women's locker room will be come a unisex bathroom, and all changing stalls and showers will be closed. Please arrive in your pool attire and shower at home.

Disinfecting of Common Areas

Pool staff will disinfect high touch surfaces multiple times during the day and as needed including handrails, pool ladders, chairs, doors, and restrooms.  At the end each day, additional cleaning will be done.

Physical Distancing

Members are expected to maintain social distancing of six feet between people both on deck and in the pool and respect the space of others. Parents are responsible for making sure their children practice social distancing.

Face Protection

Pool staff will be required to wear face protection. We will not require pool members to wear face protection, however, we HIGHLY recommend that you wear face protection when you arrive at the pool and while you are out of your designated family area and not swimming (children under 2 should not wear face protection). Wearing face protection around other people decreases transmission of the coronavirus even when maintaining a 6 foot social distance. We consider it an act of kindness. It also protects the staff who are working hard to keep you safe.

Age Requirement

All children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Parents/guardians (or a designated babysitter/nanny) are responsible for making sure their children are maintaining appropriate social distance. Lifeguards will not be expected to enforce social distancing. If any child is not compliant with the expectations for social distancing at the pool, High Point reserves the right to notify the family and pool privileges may be suspended.

Lap Swimming

Two lanes are available daily for lap swimming during the hours between 10:30 AM and 9:00 PM. Reservation of a pool time slot is required, and there is a 30 minute time limit. Members of the same household (e.g. parents and siblings) may share a lane. Children under 18 may use the lanes for lap swimming when no adults are waiting.

Adult-only lap swimming will also be available Sunday mornings (8:30 AM - 9:30 AM), however signup is required.

Swim and Dive Team

There will be no dual meets, invitationals, or an All-City Swim Meet in 2020, but High Point still has a swim and dive team. Due to capacity restrictions, however, registration is now closed.

Swim and Dive Lessons

Swim lessons and dive lessons will not be offered at this time, but we will re-evaluate this decision as the summer progresses.

Diving Boards

The diving boards will be open with social distancing rules in place and regular disinfecting of hand rails and other surfaces.

Basketball Hoops and Pool Toys

Group games involving the use of balls, flotation devices, or other toys will not be permitted. We will re-evaluate this decision as the summer progresses.

Concessions and Food

The snack shack will be closed. The concessions area and grills will not be available for members to use for the summer. Members may still carry in food, or have it delivered to the pool, but it must be contained in their reserved space.

Guests will not be permitted at High Point Swim Club at this time. We will re-evaluate this decision as the summer progresses.
