The Barracudas Are RED HOT!!!
Welcome to the Barracudas Swim Team! We are excited to return after a smoking hot 2022 season. A huge thanks to all of our Barracudas and their families who participated last year. Your feedback is important to us and we looking to make the experience even better. For example, we are pleased to announce our finalized 2023 meet schedule is already up and available! Our swimmers will once again have a full schedule of meets to test their abilities this summer, as well as the opportunity to compete in our conference Championship meet in July.
To lead them, Johnson Ranch is excited to welcome back again some of our most popular coaches. Coach Joan Smith, one of our finest technical coaches will return to lead the team as our Head Coach this season. The team is also tremendously fortunate to see the return of Coach Rosie Kracher who will assist with the younger swim groups, and long- time Barracuda parent and supporter Dave Daniels, who will officially be joining the coaching staff to work with our older swimmers. Our exemplary coaches will work with our young athletes on the fundamentals of stroke technique, sportsmanship, teamwork, and goal setting.
The Barracudas are back in a big way this season, and we look forward to welcoming returning and new swimmers to the pool!

- January 2: Registration opens for all swimmers.

This is critical in making sure your swimmer receives the instruction that will maximize their team experience. The two dates will be available this season for swim assessments, our swim registrar will contact you if one is required for your swimmer and you can pick the date that works best.
- March 6-31 Weekly Spring Swim Clinics. THESE ARE SEPARATE FROM AND NOT INCLUDED IN REGISTRATION FOR SWIM TEAM, but are a great opportunity to improve skills prior to season start. More information will follow separately about these clinics, and will also be posted on our site. They are not required to be a part of the team, and are an optional component.
- March 28th: All Parent Meeting, JRSC South, 6:30pm

What level would be best for your swimmer?
Parents should assess their swimmers swim ability and initially have them attend the swim level they think would best fit. Coaches will make a final determination of each swimmer's appropriate level as clinics or practices progress and notify parents if their swimmer needs to attend a different practice level.
- Level 1/1A practices are primarily 5–6-year-olds and any beginner 7–8-year-olds
- Level 2 practices are for swimmers who have not yet mastered the basic rhythm of all strokes. Age of swimmers range from 7-10 years old
- Level 3 practices are for more experienced swimmers who have mastered every stroke rhythm and would like to perfect their technique. Age will range from 8-12 years old
- Level 4 practices are for more experienced swimmers who have mastered every stroke rhythm and would like to perfect their technique. Age will range from 10-14 years old
- Level 5 practices are for more experienced swimmers who have mastered every stroke rhythm and would like to perfect their technique. Age will generally range from 12-14 years old.
- Level 6 practices are for experienced high school swimmers who have mastered every stroke rhythm and would like to perfect their technique. Age will range from 14-18 years old

REQUIRED PARENT & SWIMMER COMMITMENT:
Running a successful swim organization requires parental commitment. Please be aware of these commitments to help swim meets and championships run effectively.
- All swimmers are REQUIRED to swim in 2 league meets
- All families are REQUIRED to fulfill 6 volunteer shifts over the course of the season.
- Each family will also need to complete 2 additional volunteer shifts at the Comstock Championship in July and ALL swimmers MUST swim in this Championship meet July 15-16th.
The total work shifts for each team participating at Champs is determined by the number of swimmers on the team during the season, not just the number of swimmers attending champs. Families that do not meet their volunteer commitments directly impact their fellow Barracuda families and affect our ability to run meets. Failure to complete volunteer commitments can result in financial penalties from the club and could result in a swimmer not being invited back to the team in the following season. More info will be provided at the All Parent Meeting. Information about fulfilling this commitment and more about these policies can be found in our Team Handbook.
