Coaches’ Role
Our talented and experienced coaches are responsible for teaching strokes and techniques, designing daily practice sessions, making team assignments and keeping records of times, representing LMT at League meetings and sharing their love and enthusiasm for swimming. They are available after practice to discuss your child’s progress.

Anyone interested in coaching must email the Board President or Head Coach prior to April 1st. Coaches will be notified by May 1st.

Head Coach Swim Team:


Kathryn (Young) Mireles

A swimmer for LMT from age 8, Kathryn continued her swimming career at Tri-Hampton YMCA as well as Pennsbury High School. In College, Kathryn swam 4 years at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. After returning to the area, Coach Kathryn now works as a speech-language pathologist. 




Swim Team Assistant Coaches:

Melanie Hoover 
Before coming to LMT, Coach Melanie coached for the Newtown Swim Club. Her coaching career began as she developed a true passion for the sport of swimming and working with children while she witnessed her now grown children enjoy and thrive in the sport.  Coach Melanie also coached for the Spirit Swim Team in Newtown and Tri-Hampton YMCA swim team.  Throughout the year you can find Melanie at the Washington Crossing Tennis Center where she is employed as the League Manager.




Gary Garretson

Coach Garretson is extremely excited for his third year coaching at LMT this summer. After swimming at The Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey for 3 years Coach Garretson swam at Division 3 national power Denison University in Granville, Ohio. While in college he continued to excel in the sprint freestyle events and developed into an NCAC conference 200 IM finalist.  After graduating from Denison he coached for two seasons at Bridgewater Raritan High School East in nearby Central New Jersey.  Currently, he teaches middle school math at William Penn Middle School and has been doing so for the past 14 years.  He is looking forward to passing his enthusiasm for the sport to your developing athletes.​


Katie Blemings

Coach Katie is thrilled to be back to LMT for another exciting season of summer swimming. Coach Katie began swimming at Newtown Swim Club and then was fortunate enough to become a coach for NSC for five years. Katie swam at Notre Dame High School as well as at Catholic University and was captain of both teams. Coach Katie currently serves as the Head Coach for the Men's & Women's Swim Teams at Council Rock HS South while previously coaching at Notre Dame High School, Newtown Swim Club, and THY. Coach Katie works as a School Counselor at the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur in Villanova, PA.

Maria Spitzer (formerly Maria Ciaralli)
Maria is looking forward to her first year coaching at LMT!  She swam for Pennsbury High School as well as The College of New Jersey.  At TCNJ, Maria received the New Jersey Athletic Conference All-Conference Award and qualified for the NJAC All-Conference Team in 2012.  She also earned the TCNJ Scholar Athlete Award.  
Maria is a math teacher at Hamilton High School West and the head swim coach of the girls' high school varsity team. 


Tim Groth

Coach Tim is excited to return for his sixth summer as a coach at LMT.  In addition to twelve summers at LMT, Tim swam for Penn Aquatics, Tri-Hampton YMCA, and Notre Dame High School.  He has coaching experience at the NAC and spent the past winter on the pool deck with Council Rock South.  Tim graduated from James Madison University in 2020, where he swam for the club team, and will return to JMU in the fall for his Master’s in Sport and Recreation Leadership.


Joshua Belder

Coach Josh has been swimming since he was 9 years old and at LMT for 6 years before he graduated and went to college. He is a rising junior at Ursinus College and is studying Biology and Psychology.  Coach Josh swam for Tri-Hampton YMCA and for the Council Rock South Swim Team. He swam at YMCA Nationals as well as PIAA State meets. His favorite strokes to swim were butterfly, freestyle, and he loved being a part of relays with his friends and teammates. He is very excited to have a full season and to have an amazing summer with everyone. Go LMT Gators!



Kaitlyn Eastburn

Coach Kaitlyn began swimming competitively at 6 years old when she joined Richboro Swim Club's Swim Team. She continued her swimming career for many years at both Council Rock Aquatic Club and Richboro. In 2019, she graduated from Council Rock South where she swam varsity for four years, as well as served as captain during her senior year. Kaitlyn is now a rising Junior at the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing! 

Will Deitch

Will has been swimming competitively since age 6 as a member of Tri Hampton YMCA and Hamilton Area YMCA. In High School Will was a three time State qualifier for Pennsbury High School. Will now competes at the NCAA Division 1 level for American University, where he is a rising sophomore. This is his 2nd year coaching at LMT.

Miles Borowsky

Miles has been swimming competitively since the age of 6. Throughout middle and high school, he swam for the Tri-Hampton YMCA swim team where he was a State and National Qualifier. A recent graduate of Pennsbury High School where he was a four year varsity letter winner for the swim team, Miles will be attending Nashville's Vanderbilt University this fall. This summer marks Miles' 12th year at LMT and 4th year as a coach.

Brooke Garretson

Brooke starting her swimming career on the LMT swim team when she was 5 years old. She started swimming year round at the age of 8 on Penn Aquatics, and at 11 moved to the Tri Hampton YMCA, where she is currently swimming. Brooke is a rising senior at Pennsbury High School where she has competed on the varsity swim team for the past three years. 






Swimmer Coaches

David Curtiss

David Curtiss has been swimming for LMT since he was 8 years old. David has also swam with THY, Hamilton YMCA Aquatic Club, and THe Pennington School. He holds numerous pool and area records. He loves to sprint and the shorter the distance the better! David will attend NC State University this fall and is looking forward to swimming for a college team. 




Dominic Edwards

Dominic has been competitively swimming since he was 6 as a member of Spirit Swimming and Tri-Hampton YMCA. He was a high school state qualifier as a member of Council Rock North, specializing in freestyle and IM. He has been swimming on LMT for 5 years and will be a Freshman at Cornell University this fall. 




Ashley Martilotti

Ashley has been a member of the LMT swim club since she was five years old. She started swimming year-round competitively at age 7 for Spirit Swim Team, and at age 11 she transferred to GSA where she swims now. She is a rising senior at Pennsbury High School where she has swam on the varsity swim team the past three years.


*Swimmer coaches must
1. have been a member of LMT Swim team for at least 2 seasons. 

2. must have demonstrated their desire to participate and interact with their team members in the past.
3. should have attended a large majority of practices, meets and team events.
4. should have demonstrated their positive attitude on deck, in the pool and throughout the community


Candidates must email Board President no later than April 1st with the following information:
1. Why you wish to be a coach
2. What experience you have that would make you a good coach
3. What is your availability from the start of the season through the end of the season
Candidates may be asked to provide letters of recommendation including 
one from a academic standpoint (i.e. teacher) and one from a community standpoint (i.e. club advisor, NHS, church/synagogue leader, etc).

No coaching positions will be guaranteed to anyone

*Paid swimmer coaches must be members of the swim team AND either:

1.    rising High School Seniors (or recent grads)
2.    rising High School Juniors IF they have previously been a volunteer coach the previous summer


Swimmer Coaches - Volunteers


Volunteer swimmer coaches must be members of the swim team AND no younger than a rising high school sophomore.
