As we wrap up the LCM season and prepare for the 22/23 SCY season, we have some very exciting individual accomplishments to announce! Along with team-wide personal best times and strong championship performances, we had a number of swimmers set and break team and pool records! We had a great meet at Regionals with a lot of fast swims. As a team we dropped 210.4 seconds this weekend, which brings our total improvement for the short course season to 916.88 seconds! Rojus Rascius and Zoli Day both made new Silvers cuts. Rojus qualified in 100 back, and Zoli made hers in the 100 breast. Evie Phelps and Aspen Cox had impressive performances for our Senior Group, recording personal best times in multiple events.
Sophie Phelps led Nantucket Swimming with top honors being named a Most Outstanding Swimmer by New England Swimming in the 13-14 Girls age group in both the SCY and LCM Seasons. New England Swimming also named 4 other swimmers in the Top Swimmers per team category. Savannah Cox (15) and Aspen Cox (11) traveled unattached to Manchester, NH over the weekend to compete in the 2021 New England Silver LCM Championships held at the Raco Theodore Pool. Savannah entered into 7 events and had 7 personal best swims with her top performance coming in the 800FR placing 2nd overall. Aspen was entered in 8 events and came away with 6 personal best swims with her top performance coming in the 50BK placing 14th overall. This meet was not officially scored. Sophia Slosek (14) traveled to Houston, TX representing Team New England at the 2021 AAU Junior Olympics Games this past weekend. Slosek scored 132 points overall, the most by any female on the New England team, finishing with 5 1st place swims, 1 2nd and 1 3rd. She was also a member of 4 different relay teams. Slosek's highlight of the weekend came in her first event, the 200 Meter Breaststroke where she set a new 13/14 and Open team record with a final time of 2:55.68. Here's the full...
Sophie Phelps (14) represented Nantucket Swimming at the 2021 Futures Championships in Richmond, VA over this past weekend. Phelps had qualified in 6 events including the 100/400/800/1500 Meter Freestyle & 100/200 Meter Backstroke. In her first swim of the meet, the 800 Meter FR, she placed 13th overall and scored 4 points with a final time of 9:11.51.
