Greetings from the Glenwood newsroom.

This time last year, we were pivoting from plans for a pandemic-pinched swim season toward something that looked much more like the cherished summer traditions absent since 2019.

In 2022, we hope to continue our return to form and, in that spirit, we invite you to join us as we prepare for the return of the Glenwood Tigers!

The first swim practices of the season are on June 1 and Time Trials is scheduled for June 11. Here’s what else you need to know:

Online registration opens today, May 9, for returning Big Team swimmers only.

If your family’s membership dues are paid, you may sign up here. Please make sure all contact and billing information is updated and correct and sign the required waivers for your swimmer’s participation in meets and practices.

You can find more detailed registration instruction here.

Please use your existing account to log in and register.  If your email address has changed since last summer, email Traci Vagnucci at [email protected] and she will update your account for you.

Do not create a new account! All your swimmer's information is tied to your existing account.

All first-time Tigers new to Glenwood swimming must be screened by a coach prior to registering. This includes last year’s Pre-Teamers who may now be ready to move on to the Big Team.

This season’s screening is being held on Tuesday, May 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. Once our coaches have determined whether your swimmer is best suited to join either the Pre-Team or Big Team, you may register them accordingly online by using the link above.

You can arrange screening with the coaches for a few days after May 31 (June 1-3 at 7 p.m.), but please try to attend the official screening.

Registration for all swimmers closes at 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 9.

The Glenwood Tigers finished 2021 in second place in Division C of the Montgomery County Swim League! That strong finish helped our team hold onto a spot in the same division this summer and earned the Tigers three home A-meets.

On Saturday mornings this summer, Glenwood will race against Old Farm, Kentlands, Woodley Gardens, Connecticut Belair, and Chevy Chase. In the B-meets on Wednesday evenings, the team will hold dual meets with Garrett Park, Rock Creek, Northwest Branch, and Kenmont.

The schedule for the summer swim season can be found here.

The team’s practice schedule remains the same as last season, and morning practices—with more time and pool space—remain the best option for those able to attend. If your swimmers can’t make it in the morning, no worries. Afternoon practices are led by the same coaches and they strive to offer the best possible experience for all swimmers.

And that leads us to the 2022 coaching lineup.

Jeremy and Kelly Butler are returning for their 14th season of leading Glenwood’s swim program. Joining them as assistant coaches for the Big Team are Jack Bowman, Celia Ford, Melanie Morford, and Max Bowman.

Leo Kugel is back to work with 10&under swimmers on the Big Team and he’s also head coach of the Pre-Team. Leo is joined on the Pre-Team coaching staff by assistants Aidan Shaffer, Ella Schrebler, Ami House, Julian Minkoff, and Will Simpson.

We’ll provide more details in the coming weeks about meets, practices, the parent-volunteer job signup, and other important aspects of the season. In the meantime, feel free to check out the 2022 Team Handbook, which is stuffed with information about the MCSL, team rules, meet and practice guidelines, parent jobs, and much more.

See you soon at the pool! Get fired up, Tigers!—Your Team Reps
