2020 Assistant Coach & CIT Application Deadline Reminder, February 13th, 6:00 pm

Applications for Assistant Coach and Coach in Training (CIT) positions for the 2020 season are to be submitted by Sunday, Feb 13th at 6:00 pm.  Application forms can be found on the “Other Documents” tab of the Kingfish website.  Applicants should complete and submit both the Application and Code of Conduct forms.  There is also a document describing the criteria for applicants.  Please note that CITs are not paid, but will receive SSL hours. Please either email applications to Meredith Fogle (meredith@meredithfogle.com) or deliver to 502 Chestertown Street and place in the large white delivery box on her fence.
Interviews are scheduled for Sunday, February 23rd.  Once an application is received, an interview time will be scheduled between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm.   All applicants will be interviewed on Sunday, February 23rd.   An Interview Committee comprised of volunteer parents along with Head Coach Tim Brockway will conduct a 20-30 minute interview with each applicant.  If you have questions please contact Meredith Fogle (meredith@meredithfogle.com.)   Positions will be announced by mid-March.

Coaching/Interview Committee Members Needed

As reflected in our bylaws, a Coaching/Interview Committee will be formed comprised of 3-4 parents with knowledge of swimming, coaching, and the Kingfish. We are seeking to identify a mix of parents of young Kingfish as well as older swimmers.   Committee members are tasked with interviewing all applicants and sharing their feedback with our Head Coach, Tim Brockway.  The final decision on hiring rests with the Head Coach.
If you would like to participate on the Coaching/Interview Committee, please send a brief email indicating your background with swimming, coaching, and the Kingfish.  To participate on the Committee, you must be able to attend all the in-person interviews scheduled for Sunday, February 23rd.  Parents of swimmers applying for Assistant Coach or CIT positions are not eligible to serve on this Committee.  Please contact Meredith Fogle (meredith@meredithfogle.com) no later than February 8th if you would like to be considered for the Committee.

Certified Officials Needed:  Stroke & Turn, Starters and Referees

Each year we need to ensure that we have enough certified Stroke & Turn, Starter, and Referee officials on our team to run our meets.  This year, quite a number of our parents are up for re-certification, which happens every two years.  We also need some new parents to help the team by becoming certified.  A great place to start is by becoming a Stroke & Turn official.  If you are already a Stroke & Turn official, please consider getting certified for Starter and/or Referee.  Each of these positions requires one, 3 hour training session.   The sessions are held on evenings and weekends throughout the county in May and June and there is no cost to attend.   Volunteer hours will be awarded for shadowing our experienced officials to help you learn the role.   We need several more Kingfish parents to become certified for this summer.  You can see the upcoming training sessions and learn more by going to: http://www.mcsl.org/Officials.aspx.   Please feel free to reach out to Mia Joelsson, Volunteer Coordinator, at mia@djoelsson.com with any questions or to discuss your plans to get certified for the summer.
