We would like to remind everyone that we still have two open Key Volunteer positions:  B Meet Rep - Automation and Fundraising Coordinator.  Both of these positions are integral to the success of the Kingfish.  A description of each position can be found below.   If you are interested in filling either slot, please reach out to Yolanda Goettsch ([email protected]) or Christy Shafer ([email protected]).

Fundraising Coordinator: The Fundraising Coordinator will oversee all fundraising activities for the Kingfish, including the identification, solicitation, and support of sponsors. This includes: the production of banners, team tie-dye t-shirts, recognition of all sponsors at swim meets and team functions, collection of sponsorship fees and, delivery of fees to the team Treasurer.

B Meet Rep – Automation:  The B Meet Rep for Automation shall oversee the meet management platform for all B meets (Team Unify and Meet Manager); interface with other team representatives regarding dual meets and the B relay carnival; prepare electronic meet heat sheets; record meet results with MCSL; and monitor meet entries and swimmer sign-ins and sign-outs for B meets, in order to observe compliance with the Seneca B League Guidelines.

Thank you to the Kingfish Board, including our newest Board members, as well as our Key Volunteers, for their ongoing commitment to the team.  Thank you as well to our departing Key Volunteer:  Claudia Holanda.  Claudia will resume her spot in the stands as she cheers on her young Kingfish.  Anne Hunte will transition from Fundraising to the grill as she and her husband Haslyn step into Concessions with the Ingrassia family.  As we all know, the Kingfish swim team plays an important role in the Kentlands’ community and the tremendous dedication of those on the Board, as well as the Key Volunteer positions, is greatly appreciated.

Officials Update

MCSL has granted a one year extension to anyone who had an active certification that was set to expire in 2020 or 2021.  So, if your Stroke & Turn, Starter, or Referee certification expired in 2020, you will now need to renew in Spring 2021.  Here is the link to read the details and see when your certification expires: http://www.mcsl.org/Officials.aspx

The team will also need several more parents to become certified in Stroke & Turn, Referee, and/or Starter for the 2021 season.  There will be plenty of time to shadow our experienced officials and learn the role once the season begins.  The trainings usually take place in May and early June and are held in the evenings or on weekends.  More details will be provided as we get closer to Spring.  Please reach out to Mia Joelsson at [email protected] with questions or to express interest in becoming certified.

A Meet Schedule

The proposed schedule of A meets for the 2021 Summer season has been posted to the Kingfish website.  You may find the schedule under “Newsletters”, the “Other Documents” tab, and the “Key Information This Week” button.  And just in case you don’t want to visit the website – keep reading.  We got you covered!
