Week Ahead - 6/6 to 6/12 - Time Trials this Saturday; Minis stoke evaluation clinic

Ann Bolten

What a wonderful start to the season and a great first week of practices!

Before we focus our attention on the week ahead, I wanted to shout all the bakers and their parents for a fantastic bake sale this afternoon. The bake sale raised in impressive $450 toward reducing our budget shortfall this year. A big thank you to the bake sale organizers Danielle Carrier, Erlinda Doherty, Kirsten Darling and our A Reps Gayle Horn and Kelly Swain!

Time Trials Saturday June 11th

Time Trials will be Saturday, June 11th. Every swimmer on our team will have the opportunity to swim each individual event in his or her age group to establish a baseline time for the season. These times will (along with times recorded at the first B meet on 6/16) determine who will swim in our first A meet.

We encourage every swimmer to participate, especially new swimmers, as this is a low stress way to practice swimming at a meet. The meet begins at 9:00 a.m. and swimmers need to arrive at 8:15 a.m. ready to warm up. To qualify for an A Meet, swimmers must have a time and participating in Time Trials is the best way to ensure a swimmer will get a time.

Take a moment today to go to the Somerset Website or Ondeck App and indicate whether your swimmer will be able to participate in Time Trials so that they will be added to the lineup. (see above)

Lunch will be served after the conclusion of Time Trials and all team and minis swimmers are welcome. The theme for the meet will be purple.

Minis Clinic on June 11th / First Minis Practice Monday June 20th

A reminder that our Minis learn-to-swim program begins on Monday June 20th.

The Minis Coordinator will host a stroke evaluation clinic for Minis to help with coach pairing on Saturday, June 11th after Time Trials. Plan to arrive at the pool at 11:15 a.m.

We are busy updating the calendar on the website – save the dates for Meets and Social Events.
