The Detroit Golf Club Blue Lightning Swim Team, led by Head Coach Greg Palmer, will begin their eighty-first season as one of the original six participating clubs of the Michigan Inter-Club Swimming Association (MICSA). The league was formed in 1940 as a result of interest in competitive summer swimming among several Detroit area clubs. MICSA is now comprised of fourteen clubs and remains the oldest and most prestigious inter-club swimming association in the United States. MICSA has produced swim athletes that have represented the United States at the Olympic Games, NCAA Championships and other national and international competitions. Detroit Golf Club swimmers are fast, practice hard and have lots of fun. The swim team opportunity is open to all children ages three to seventeen, whose parents are Detroit Golf Club members. It is a great way for them to learn competitive swimming techniques, while developing lasting friendships with their teammates.
