Deep Dive
Notes from Head Dive Coach, Jeannaé:
Monona Diving 2021 is off to an excellent start. Our team dynamics are unmatched, the friendships formed will last a lifetime, we are learning new dives while supporting each other, and most importantly we are growing together as a team. This is the recipe for success.
Critical conversations have begun in terms of goals and aspirations on how to achieve greatness this summer. For more information on everything you wish to know about springboard diving, please refer to the Monona Dive Handbook.
Team Traditions:
  • Dinner Following Home Meets at Rocky's on Monona Drive
  • Donut Fridays (am practice)
  • Tie-Dye Party (week of July 12, date/time TBD)
Dive Meet: MO @ RW on June 11 @ 5 pm
Where: Ridgewood Pool 5109 Barton Road, Madison WI 53711
Warmups: 4-5:00pm
****Please declare your intent to participate on our team website by June 9th!
Swim Notes
Notes from Head Swim Coach, Kelly:

**Preseason practice time Monday-Wednesday this week, regular season time starts Thursday morning (reminder no pm on Fridays). See below for the full schedule.

**Don't forget to check your family's mailbox! You can find the cart with the mailbox folders and the lost and found by the Community Center Gate at each practice. We do have a few items in our lost and found from the first week!

**Don't forget to sign up for the meet by Wednesday.  If you are unable to do relays please notify the coach in the comments of the sign up. If there are no comments, I will assume you are able to compete in the relays.

**All 10 and Unders will receive a card at the meet with their events and relay info. It is very important that swimmers find their coach to grab these before warm ups—it is our way to check kids in!

**If there are any issues that arise that keep someone from being able to participate in a meet after they have already signed up PLEASE notify Kelly as soon as possible. Kelly's email is [email protected]

**Relay info will be sent out via email on Friday, so that you'll know which relay(s) your swimmer will be swimming on Saturday.

**We do a theme for each week and this week we are going to go with Monona Blue!  Since we will hopefully have our clothing orders available by the end of the week, it will be the perfect opportunity to wear our new swag.

**This week would be a great week to write a card or note to your Swim Buddy! Say hi and introduce yourself, or use their family's mailbox to connect if you don't have practice at the same time.  Maybe let them know a meet or two that you will be participating in this summer.

**Swimmers have been looking great this week!  I'm thrilled with our energy, willingness to learn, and bonds forming between teammates and coaches.  Keep up the great work!!

Apparel Pick Up
We are expecting that your MO Apparel should be ready for pick up by Thursday or Friday this week and are awaiting final word from Simply Swimming. We had record amounts of clothing items ordered this year—our team is going to look amazing! Keep an eye out for an email later this week with all the pick up details .

Home Swim Meets mean we need some additional things from families besides super fast and friendly swimmers:

Volunteers! We need help with timing, managing Clerk of Course (lining up young swimmers to get them ready to race), awards, and set up and tear down. To learn more about these jobs, check out our FAQ Page under "Volunteers" for descriptions—but don't worry! None of them take any prior knowledge, and we'll train you. Please use the same BIG BUTTON above to sign yourself up to Volunteer! (if you click the link and the sign up isn't ready yet, it will be soon! Check back later!)

National Anthem Musicians! We need a swimmer to kick off our meet with MO's traditional live performance of the National Anthem. Singers or portable instrumentalists are welcome. If your swimmer is interested in performing the anthem at one of our four home meets, please email Maelanie Kuzma at [email protected]

Concessions! In a normal/non-covid safety-concerned year, we'd have families donate items for our concession stand. But, concessions will look a little different this year, at least for the first swim meet.  We will be serving coffee, water bottles, soda and gatorade.  Everything will be either $1 or $2 and exact change is appreciated.  If you are interested in volunteering stop by the concession stand to see if any help is needed.  We will re-evaluate after the first meet to see how we'll handle concessions moving forward.  Thank you for supporting concessions!

Newsletters are sent weekly throughout the summer season to keep you up to date on all the team happenings on and off the pool deck. Didn't get a copy of this in your email? Verify your contact info on the MO website to make sure you receive these newsletters and other important team information.
