Deep Dive
Notes from Coach Z:
While Mother Nature had other plans for our first meet, we kept it safe and gave RW extra time to train! Our meet with RW will likely happen on Wed, June 23.  Warmups @ 4pm, meet begins @ 5pm.
Save the date.
What an incredible week of diving!  94.1% of our team members now has a full list of dives to compete during the dual meets while we continue to train for the ultimate, one-of-a-kind experience known as Madison All-City 2021.
Make sure to tune into Olympic trials, swimming & diving.  This competition brings together a few of the best athletes around the USA, including our local, home-grown swimmer & diver, Ben McDade.  We wish him all the best and we know he and his family will have a most memorable experience.  Fun to watch, but BEST to experience first-hand.
Donut Fridays are such fun for this crew and we even had offers to purchase!  Thank you Coaches and Parents alike for making this summer an awesome summer and one to remember.
Upcoming Dive Meet:
MO @ Hill Farm (HF) on June 18.
Warmup starts @ 4pm.
Meet starts @ 5pm.
Please declare your intent to participate by June 16th!
Tentative Dive Meet:
MO @ Ridgewood (RW) on June 23.
Warmup starts @ 4pm
Meet starts @ 5pm.
Stay well,
Coach Z
Swim Notes
Congratulations to all swimmers who participated at the swim meet vs. High Point this past weekend. It was amazing to be back in the water competing! Want to know our results? Check them out here:
If your swimmer earned a ribbon for an event, you'll find them in your family's folder/mailbox. Make sure to check your mailbox regularly!
A few swimmers in each age group are recognized by their coaches each week as MO's "Swim Stars" for extra impressive contributions to the team through great attitudes, great swims, or a great combination of the two! You'll find this week's Swim Stars here...
Thank you to all of the volunteers this past weekend. There is a lot that goes into a swim meet. It runs smoothly due to the parents helping to do the work. We will continue to need more volunteers as the meets continue throughout the summer. We will be needing more volunteers in clean-up, concessions, and always timers. Thank you so much for your support. It is going to be a great summer!

Notes from Coach Kelly:

**If you haven't yet, please reach out to your swim buddy and say hi or send a paper message through the team mailbox.
**Ribbons from the last meet are also in your mailbox!  Unfortunately, we forgot about the heat winner ribbons Saturday.  If anyone would have earned a ribbon would like one please feel free to check in with Coach Kelly at practice and get one!
**Swim Caps!  Our swimmers swim fast and the meet can go quickly.  To help us coaches identify MO swimmers we would really appreciate if all of our swimmers wear swim Caps during their races at meets ( as soon as all the caps are in...see apparel note below!).  Coach Kelly tries to get every time for every race, so it would be super helpful to wear the team "uniform."
**Theme of this week's Swim Meet at Goodman: Superheros!

The coaches and I were SO impressed this past week with everyone's performances at practice and at our first home meet.  We appreciate everyone being great listeners, open to trying new things, and for giving us their best effort.  We can tell it is going to be a great season!!  Keep up the good work Magicians!

Apparel Pick Up and an Important Warning (or two)!
An Important Note from Simply Swimming re: MO Suits and Sunscreen!

“We are reaching out to you in regards to your team suit logo.  It has recently come to our attention that the suit logo’s may have started to come off after this last weekends meet.  That is happening from the use of aerosol sunscreen (the aerosol actually reacts with the ink in the logo causing it to fade/disappear).  We wanted to advise all our swimmers and families NOT to use that type of sunscreen.

Again this has just come to our attention and something we have now been advised of.  If your swimmer is having any issues with the logo on their suit starting to disappear or fade please feel free to bring their suit in and we can go ahead and fix it or give us a call with any questions.  We do apologize for the issue.”

Apparel Pick Up Options:

If you haven't yet picked up your clothing order, please email Liz at [email protected] to arrange a pick up time!

Gear Bags and MO Caps are still delayed. They will not be available on Tuesday, 6/15.  Estimated time of delivery is still this week, they are both coming from the same manufacturer.

And the second warning...

A sad, but necessary, reminder that if you are biking to the pool to please lock your bike at the bike racks. Every year we have some very sad swimmers whose bikes are stolen, and unfortunately this year has proved no different. A lock is great investment!

2021 ALL CITY SWIM MEET: July 28 - July 31

The All City Swim Meet will look quite a bit different this year. A lot of discussion has taken place about how to bring 2000+ swimmers and their families together for our traditional End of Season Championship Meet in the safest way possible, while still allowing for the excitement and incredibly fast swimming we know and love.

This year, All City will be truly "All City"—multiple pools will host different age groups over the course of 4 days. Prelims take place Wednesday, July 28, Thursday, July 29, and Friday, July 30, with Finals on Saturday, July 31st.

You can see the full schedule and host pool locations here: 2021 All City Schedule

Details about Warm Ups, Apparel, Vendors, Spectators, etc. are all in the planning stages. Keep an eye on the All City League Website and your trusty Lane Lines for updates.

SAVE THE DATE: MO traditionally holds a Team Banquet the Sunday after All City at a park in Monona. So, circle Sunday, August 1st on your calendar....you don't want to miss the awards, coach speeches, food, and hanging out with your teammates and swim/dive families! Details to come in later Lane Lines....

One detail we do know about All City is that MO is lucky enough to host the Prelims for all the 8 and Unders on Thursday morning, July 29th! This will be a ton of adorable fun, but lots of work and planning!

We are forming an All City 8 and Under Sub-Committee of MO Parents interested in helping plan and implement an awesome experience for our littlest—but super speedy!—swimmers. If you are interested in being part of this once in a life time event, please contact Board President, Brian Johnson.

Our Board and Coaches always have safety as their primary concern, and this year that extends to Covid Safety. Please carefully read our COVID SAFETY GUIDELINES.
