NEWS for Week of March 6th - March 11th
Welcome to your first Tidalwaves Weekly NEWS e-mail of the 2023 Season! I'm sure you are all checking your receipts to see if you accidentally registered for Winter Swim. This year is getting off to a surprisingly wet and cold start, not ideal for the start of swim season, but all part of our new reality of unexpected weather events. The kids have been great about it and somehow we will all get through it with stories to regale our friends with for years to come! Many thanks to all our volunteers, especially those providing aid and comfort to the cold swimmers through important hot chocolate pours! This email is going out to our team-level swim families as well as our tadpole-level families because of two items we want to inform the whole community of: Tonight's NEW FAMILY Information Session AND High School Swim Meets on Friday, March 10th. Read on for reminders for this week as well as some head's up on dates fast approaching:
NEW Family Info Night: TONIGHT, 7:00 pm at the Corte Madera Police Station Community Room
There is certainly a lot to know as a new family sticking its toes into the water of the Marin Swim League! We know it can be overwhelming because we have all been NEW! Tonight we offer a tremendous overview of the experience your family is embarking on that we sincerely hope will be as rewarding for your family as it has been for the thousands of families that have gone before you. The event is geared toward "team level" families, but we like to invite tadpole families who are interested in what lies beyond the tadpole experience. We discuss swim meets, season structure, volunteering, awards and incentives, and managing it all! Board members provide their perspectives and we are happy to answer your many questions, so come if you can, meet each other, meet some veterans, and soon find out why the Tidalwaves experience is raved about by so many! Address: 250 Doherty Drive, Larkspur.
The police department has asked us to let you know you should park in the Piper Park parking lot or the Hall Middle School lot. Leave the spots in front of the police station for those seeking (and providing) police services.
What is the Splash Week Schedule This Week? And FRIDAY Changes this Week!
If you have team-level swimmers that started with us last week, you may remember that the schedule 'flips' this week. Below is this week's schedule, with a modification for Friday due to a high school swim meet at Redwood. Remember, NEW swimmers, are any swimmers who have not yet competed in a Tidalwaves swim meet.
The tadpole schedule remains the same and is not included below. However, due to a different High School Swim Meet at College of Marin this Friday, March 10th, WE MUST CANCEL ALL COM PRACTICES FOR FRIDAY. All 1A, 2A, and 3A tadpoles are invited to attend a make-up practice on Saturday at COM from 11:30 - 12:00 (optional).
All Returning 8 & Under swimmers are invited to attend practice at Redwood on Friday at 6:00 pm.
To head off a lot of anticipated questions, we expect this will be the only high school swim meet at COM. Redwood will have 3 more that will impact our schedule on Tuesday 3/28, Friday 3/31, and Thursday 4/6. Schedule adjustments will be sent the week of. We are grateful for the use of the Redwood pool during their high school season and view these as minor disruptions.

Where and When Can I Get Some of the Great Tidalwaves GEAR?
Team Gear volunteers will be at REDWOOD this second week of Splash on Wednesday (3/8) from 5:45 - 7:45 pm and Thursday (3/9) from 5:15 - 7:45 pm. Available for purchase will be all the items our families have come to love over the years (T-Shirts, hoodies, pajama pants, hats, etc.) and a few NEW items that you won't want to miss out on! You’ll want to lounge in the new gear all day while showing off your team pride! COME TO REDWOOD to get your TIDALWAVES GEAR ON!
After this week, Team Gear will not be available for purchase until Pizza/Cheer night, April 21st.
NOTE: Ordering Windows CLOSING for Important Items: Team Suits, Parkas, and Personalized Team Caps
Not all Tidalwaves gear is 'carried' by our gear volunteers. T & B sports carries inventory of team suits and we need to order PERSONALIZED Tidalwaves swim caps from an outside vendor. Any T & B Sports items ordered during the order window will be available for pick up at our infamous Pizza/Cheer night, April 21st--the night before our Time Trials meet.
- Orders for team suits, parkas, hoodies and Tidalwaves sweat pants will all be available directly through T& B Sports (1345 4th Street, San Rafael. Phone: 415-453-2433). Click here to place your T & B Sports order by March 12th, 2023 to have by Pizza/Cheer. A representative from T&B Sports will be joining us on Wednesday, March 8th and Thursday, March 9th, in front of the pool, to assist you in finding the right sizes for your swimmer (5:15 - 7:30), if you can't or don't want to get yourself to T&B before then. Suits, parkas, etc., will be available to try on.
- Orders for PERSONALIZED swim caps go through Tidalwaves. The order for these goes in on March 10th, to get here by Pizza/Cheer on April 21st. Click here for more info and to place your order before March 10th.

What Happens AFTER Splash Weeks?
We will notify all families of their swimmers' practice groups via an e-mail Sunday, March 12th. At this point, we will switch to our first half of the season, "standard practice schedule".
I've Heard about the Tidalwaves Facebook Group. How do I Join?
The Facebook Group has proven itself to be helpful to those looking to swap gear, put out an SOS about lost gear, find volunteers to swap volunteer spots, and to help people make carpool arrangements for practices. No one is required to join, but it is the best way we have come up with for parents to send shout-outs for help. Here is the info needed to join the group:
Be sure to Like the Tidalwaves Facebook Page now for team updates, general info and photo and video highlights throughout the season. To join our Facebook Group, follow the link to the Group and click "Join Group" and an admin will approve requests from team members.
That's it for now! See you at the pool!
