Team History...........................................................................................................................................

The Lucas Valley Lighting has a storied history in Marin County and has been the foundation for many lifelong friendships. In its early years, the team was known as the Lucas Valley Waterlogs, and came into existence shortly after the neighborhood and LVHA community center were built. In the late ‘60s, LVST swam during a summer season between June and August, competing against 11 other teams at the peak, including our archrivals then and now, the Marinwood Water Devils. Practices were in the early mornings, starting at 6am for high schoolers. On Saturday mornings, neighbors near and far would hear the shot of a .22 pistol starting each race. For many years, the team was supported by a dedicated Parents Club, which hosted parties and other events through the summer season. At the end of the season, all league teams competed in the “9-Way,” a name that survived even after the league had outgrown its first 9 teams. Of course, we now call this event “Champs,” where LVST swims against all the other Marin Swim League teams as our last event of the swim season.

Our swim team has been a part of Lucas Valley for almost 60 years. Come and join the team to keep us here for another 60!
