Swimming has always been a part of Greg's life. He started swimming in his youth in Tiburon and swam competitively locally through his first two years of college. He has been coaching swim teams for over 12 years, across clubs and high schools in Marin. He enjoys open water swims; his favorites are Maui Channel Relay and Trans Tahoe Relay (which include former Scott Valley Swimmers Greg coached), with the most notable to date being an English Channel crossing in 2011.  It was his love of swimming and kids that got him involved in coaching and teaching. Sarah Johnson

Sarah Johnson
Assistant Coach / Swim Instructor / Aquatics Admin

Sarah Johnson recently relocated to Mill Valley from her home town of Vacaville, Ca. Swimming has always been a huge part of her life with it starting at the age of 5 until she left the sport at 15. As an adult she got back into the swimming world when she starting coaching for SASO swim team in 2016. As a coach there she coached the 12 & under competitive swimmers as well as the 13 & under novice swimmers. Under her coaching her swimmers achieved high point winnings at the Championship meets as well as earning National top 10 ranking for the 11-12 age group and 9 & 10 age group. As well as coaching on SASO she helped with a local swim school teaching kids as young as 6 months all the way to the senior grandparents how to swim. During that time she was the Head Coach for the local high school swim team that she started herself. She is very exited to be apart of the Scott Valley Swimming and Tennis Club and share her knowledge and passion of the water with this great community!

Kayla Burton

Kayla Burton
Assistant Coach/Swim Instructor

My love for swimming began at a very young age. I can still remember my first swim lesson and how much I loved being in the water and learning how to be more efficient. Every summer involved either going to the pool or swimming in a river or lake. I joined the swim team in high school and fell in love with racing! When I was 16 I took my first lifeguard job and did that every summer until I was 23. I got my WSI in 2011 and have been teaching private and group swim lessons ever since then! Outside of the pool, I work as a personal trainer at Body Kinetics in San Rafael. Fitness and aquatics are two things that I am most passionate about, and I am lucky to incorporate both into my work. I love coaching; whether it’s learning how to squat or learning how to back stroke, I love helping people learn new skills and gain confidence!
