Many coordinator and key volunteer jobs start before the season begins or requires previous experience and/or training. These jobs are typically pre-filled, but do let us know if there is a role that you are interested in and would like to shadow.  Don’t be nervous to sign up for something you have never done before! Your Volunteer Lead Coordinator will work with you, get you up and running and... before you know it, you'll be an expert!  Please review the list below to see what interest you.

  • A ‘shift’ is shown as a ‘point’  or 1 point = 1 Shift
  • Swim Events Shift 1 = Pre Medley Relay through Backstroke (some times may vary)

SVSS Team Lead Coordinators

Lead Coordinators are responsible for communication with their volunteer team, training team as needed, monitoring shift fulfillment, and leading day of event responsibilities. If interested in one of the open roles or shadowing an existing role, please contact Laura Spence (Swim Leads) or Vyvianne Kiriakis (Social Leads) for more information.

1.  Open Swim Meet Leads:

Swim Meet Equipment Break-Down Lead (Time Trials and Home Meets) - Fulfills 5 of 6 shifts

- Home Meets only approximately a 1:00pm start - 2:30 pm end.  Coordinate with Swim Lead Set Up and guide day of volunteers to help with storing swim team product and re-setting the pool deck.  SVSTC Staff to help with the re-setting of the pool deck.

SVSS Referee Assistant (Time Trials and Home Meets) - Fulfills 5 of 6 shifts

- Assist the SVSS Head Referee with leading the coordiantion.

- Marin Swim League Officials Training on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 9am in SVSTC Upper Clubhouse

Heat Sheet and Volunteer Name Tag Organizer  (All Meets) - Fulfills all 6 shifts

- Friday before meets organize all heat sheets for the various volunteer jobs.  SVSTC will print and provide the clipboards

- Friday before meets, the Lead Volunteer will provide you with the list of volunteers to print.  Must like working in Excel

FILLED - Snack Bar Lead (Time Trials and Home Meets) - Fulfills all 6 shifts

- Run the league's best sanck bar!  

FILLED - Snack Bar Costco Lead (Time Trials and Home Meets) - Fulfills 5 of 6 shifts

- Order, pick up or get delivered all the fun snacks for the meet.  You will coordinate directly with the Snack Bar Lead.

FILLED - Snack Bar Set-Up Co-Lead (Time Trials and Home Meets) - Fulfills 5 of 6 shifts

- Partner with a seasoned Co-Lead on getting the Snack Bar set up prior to each home swim meet.  You will coordinate directly with the Snack Bar Lead.  Great role for those early birds who like to have their job complete prior to to the swim meet start.

FILLED - Timer Co-Lead (Time Trials and Dual Meets) - Fulfills all 6 shifts

- Partner with a seasoned Timer Co-Lead on the day of communicaiton for all timers, this includes an overview to both the SVSS and Away team timers. From our swimmers POC, the most important job on deck!

2.  Open Social Leads:

FILLED - Bingo Night Social Lead (Friday, March 22, 2019) - Fulfills 4 of 6 shifts

- Responsible for coordinating/executing the entire evening including set up, clean-up, ordering/purchasing prizes, table cloths, plates, napkins, utensils, food, drinks and snacks.  Organizing/managing Bingo for the evening, Friday March 22, 5pm-9pm.

High School Swimmer Social Lead Fulfills 5 of 6 shifts

- Acts as a liaison and social networking with the High School swimmers.  Responsible for communication with the high school group.  Provides swim meet goodie bags and organizes snack bar money ($10/meet) for the high schoolers.  

FILLED - Movie Night (May 11, 2019) Fulfills 5 of 6 shifts

Responsible for coordinating/executing the entire evening including set up, clean up, ordering/purchasing floaties, food, drinks and snacks. Coordinating with SV Management on movie, screen and sound system.  Includes choosing the movie for the night of May 11, 5-9pm.

Memorial Day Organizer (May 27, 2019) Fulfills 4 of 6 shifts

- Responsible for organizing, purchasing and decorating to walk in the Memorial Day Parade on the morning of May 27th 8am-Noon. Decorate Car/Float .  Walk/Escort Sea Serpents in Memorial Day Parade.

FILLED - Russian River Rafting (June 21, 2019) - Fulfills 5 of 6 shifts

- Responsible for organizing/planning and executing the entire day on the Russian River. Secure/organize with Rafting Co. Secure/coordinate transportation with Bus Shuttle. Arrange food, drinks and snacks for entire day on the river.

SVSS Team Individual Roles:

1.  Swim Meet Volunteers:  (Each of these fulfill 1 shift unless noted)

8 & Under Line Up Assistant (Time Trials and All Dual Meets):

- Assists 8 & Under swimmers to blocks for freestyle through fly

Announcer (Time Trials and Home Meets):  If interested please contact Laura Spence

- That few hours of fame where you get to announce the swimmers and their events.  

Apparel Sales (Time Trials and Home Meets):

- Assist with Apparel set up or tear down and sell that Serpent gear!                                          

Computer Assistant = 2 points (Time Trials and Home Meets):

 - Assist with Computer desk activities, enters time into system.  Best swim meet view!  Would like for this volunteer to be availbe for the entire meet rather than split shifts, easy way to knock out 2 shifts!

Desk Assistant (Time Trials and Home Meets):

 - Assist with Computer desk activities, verifies all scoring, prior to posting.  Best swim meet view!

Dolphin Timing Assistant (Time Trials and Home Meets):

  - Assist with managing the timing results per heat.  Best swim meet view!

Floater (Time Trials and All Dual Meets):

Check in with Volunteer Lead Coordinator (Laura Spence) for surprise job of the day!

Meet Break Down (Time Trials and Home Meets):

- Helps Club staff break down, store swim gear and clean up after meet.  Great job if you want to not work during the actual swim meet.

Meet Set Up (Time Trials and Home Meets):

- Helps get the deck ready for a fun swim meet!  Great job for those early morning risers (start time is typically 6am)

Parking Attendant (Time Trials and Home Meets):

- Helps all meet attendees park in the right area.  Keeps the club and neighborhood happy!

Ribbon Coordinator (Time Trials and all Dual Meets):

- Works desk poolside, labels ribbons, sorts by team/swimmer.

Runner (Time Trials and Home Meets):

- Works with the Computer/Desk team to gather swimmer's times to post.  Gathers DQ slips from judges and Timer sheets from Timers.

Snack Bar Assistant (Time Trials and Home Meets):

 - Helps with food set up, serving and clean up depending on the shift

Snack Bar Cashier (Time Trials and Home Meets):

- Manages the cash flow for all snack bar purchases depending on the shift.  Shift 1 will be an early start typically by 7am.

Snack Bar Juice Girl Pick Up/Return (Time Trials and Home Meets):

- Pick up pre-ordered Smoothies, bring so SVSS Snack Bar and return containers after meet to JG

Starter (Time Trials and Home Meets):  If interested please contact Laura Spence

- Calls swimmers to the blocks and starts each heat. Partners closely with the Announcer and Timers

 - Works poolside, uses stopwatch to time event, writes down times.  One of the best swimmer viewing on deck!

Bingo Night (Friday, March 22)

 - Help with bingo night preparations, set up and clean up

Serpent Season Kick Off Party (Friday, April 26)

- Help with shopping, set-up, clean up and organizing relays

Movie Night (Saturday, May 11)

 - Help with movie night preparations, set up and clean up

11 & Up Team Big Dog Surf Day (Sunday, May 19)

- Extra chaperone on surf trip

Memorial Day Parade (Monday, May 27)

Helps with Memorial Day Parade preparations

Team Photo Day (Friday, June 21)

- Assists Photo day lead for the event

Russian River Team Trip (Friday, June 21)

- Assists with the Water Park day off fun

Champs Spirit Day (Friday, June 28)

- Help with this event of decorating cars, posters, nail painting, potentially boy buzz cuts

Awards Banquet (Sunday, June 30)

- Help with Awards banquet preparations, set up and clean up
