Sarah Paoli Head Coach

I am so excited to be a part of the  Riptide Family.   I have been in the aquatics field for 27 years, coaching for the past 21. I have coached with MSL teams, Marin Pirates and San Marin High School . I have been so fortunate to have the opportunity to coach all age groups.  I will also be coaching with the Thunder Coast Aquatics (TCA). I am originally form Denver, but Marin has been my home for a long time. I am fortunate to have a job I love, I teach PE at Vallecito Elementary. My daughter Kellie graduated from TLHS (my alma mater) in June of 2019. She is loving Santa Barbara City College.  I am looking forward to another wonderful swim season! See you pool side!

Victor Wales Coach

Victor has spent the last 24 years coaching Division 1 Swimming. He was recently named the head coach of the College of Marin Swimming and Diving team. Prior to that, he led the University of Hawaii men's and women's swimming program for the last 10 seasons. Before Hawaii he had stops at SJSU, ASU, UCSB, and the University of Illinois. He also spent time coaching the Senior Group at West Coast Aquatics and DeAnza/Cupertino Aquatics. Coach Wales has produced athletes at every level of swimming success, including: multiple Olympians, NCAA All-Americans, National and U.S. Open Champions, Olympic Trials, Senior and Junior National Qualifiers.

Victor grew up in Daly City, went to S.I., and swam for UCSB. He was a 4x Junior National Champion, Senior National Qualifier, NCAA All-American, and competed at the 1988 and 1992 U.S. Olympic Trials. His wife Miniver grew up in Marin and is a teacher at Marin Montessori School. Victor and Miniver live in Novato with their 3 children: Ethan, Chloe, and Lily.

Mia Cunnan Coach

Mia Cunnan has competitively swam on a USA club team for 13 years. She swam with Marin Pirates, under coach Tom Evers throughout middle school and high school. With the Pirates, she was a Sectionals, Junior Nationals swimmer, and a captain for the team her senior year.  At Terra Linda High School, she was part of the All-American team, and competed in the CIF state championship. She coached Special Olympics and was a swim instructor for Terra Linda Community Center in high school. 

She then went to UC Davis and swam as a D1 athlete for the team. She competed in four consecutive MPSF conference championships, for 100 and 200 backstroke, and 50 freestyle. She was awarded scholarship for 3 years, and was on the MPSF all-academic team for 2 years. Her senior year, she was voted captain, and was awarded MPSF athlete of the week after being nominated by her coaches.  

Shannon Dugdale Coach

I am so happy to be back with the Riptide family. I started swimming with the Riptides at the age of 7. I swam for Novato high school’s swim team all four years. I also competed nationally and internationally with the US Paralympics. I currently swim with the Marin Aquatic Masters. I have helped coach the Novato High swim team since graduating in 2017. I currently work at Rancho Elementary School as a yard supervisor. I am really looking forward to coaching the Junior Riptiders! Being on the Riptides are some of my best memories and I look forward to creating new ones!

Kailah Sarganis Coach

I started swimming when I was 6. I swam on Riptide for a few years and then swam for Marin Pirates up until my sophomore year. I also swam at Marin Catholic for 4 years and swam at NCS every year, graduating in 2020. I attended University of Hawaii for a year and a half before transferring to COM. I have taught lessons for Swim America, the JCC, and a few other places. I also help coach the Marin Catholic swim team a few days a week. I look forward to coaching the Riptide Juniors and 10 and unders!!

Liz Evers Juniors Coach

This is my first year joining Riptides and I am looking forward to getting to know and coach all the Juniors!  I have coached for Marin Pirates when both our girls were young through high school.  I coached Novato High School Varsity Swim Team for 9 years and retired in 2020.  My biggest passion is our TCA Swim School (Formerly SwimAmerica). Tom and started our Learn to Swim Program in Novato in 2005 and expanded into Petaluma in 2009.  I look forward every season to watch over 300+ swimmers come through our program and achieve the goals they are hoping to.  Every happy and smiling face is my happy place.  Yes, Coach Tom is my husband!
