River Run Raptors Update - May 16th

Hi Raptors! Summer is getting closer - so happy to see temperatures climbing, too!  Here are a few announcements for this week.  Next week I will have specific details for practices, etc. as we gear up for the opening of the pool and the Raptors Season!

Volunteer Sign Up Open Through May 19th:

Volunteer Sign up is open through May 19th (This Sunday).  Please double check that you have signed up for your 6 regular season slots as well as your Time Trials slot.  If you have not yet signed up, please complete your volunteer sign up prior to May 19th! Following May 19th, anyone not signed up will be contacted by the Volunteer coordinator, who will assign their jobs.

Volunteer Bond Checks: As noted in the Registration process, this year we are returning to a $300 bond check for                                                   volunteers.

These checks are held by our treasurer throughout the season.  For those who complete their volunteer jobs, these checks will be returned to you at the end of the season.  Anyone failing to complete their volunteer jobs will forfeit a portion of their bond check depending on the jobs missed. Our hope is to return ALL bond checks at the end of the season!!

If you have not already submitted your $300 bond check, please do so by June 7th! They can be dropped off to the clubhouse at any time (please place in an envelope labeled "Raptors Swim Team") or brought to the pep rally on June 7th.  Swimmers will not be entered in meets until these checks are submitted.  Thank you!!   (*Committee Chairs, Board Members, Conference Reps are exempt from bond checks*)

OFFICIALS STILL NEEDED: We are still looking for 1-2 additional parents willing to be officials this season - Please consider fulfilling your volunteer obligation in this way!  (you are invaluable since we can't run a meet without our officials!)  If you have already signed up for volunteer slots, but are willing to help...we can easily edit your volunteer sign up!

What to know about being an official:

-Fulfills your volunteer obligation for the regular season

-Training is provided by the Naperville Swim Conference - which teaches you what you need to know to do for the job (no advanced swim knowledge required) -- see below for training session days/times

-The Training session is included as one of your volunteer slots (only officiate for 5 regular season meets!)

-Best view of the races (with water and snacks provided!

Able to help us out as an official? THANK YOU!  Please sign up for one of the training sessions below and send Jenn Buedel a quick email at jebuedel@gmail.com to let her know you'll be joining us as an official!  (returning officials must also sign up for a training, unless USA/YMCA certified in which case we will need to submit your certification to the conference.)

2019 NSC Officials Sign up and certification submission

All training sessions will be held at Fort Hill Activity Center, 20 Fort Hill Drive, Naperville. You only need to attend 1 session (approx 1.5 hrs in length - counts as one of your "jobs").

REGISTRATION:

1)Registration is still open at rrraptors.org!  If you haven't completed your sign up yet, or know someone looking to join, registration is open through 6/7.

2)If you registered on-line and selected to pay by check...please make sure to drop those payments off to the River Run Clubhouse office as soon as possible.  Once they are received, we can complete the registration process and get you on the roster!

3)Continue to spread the word to friends and neighbors about our great little club!  Spots on the team remain open for both River Run Club members, non-member River Run residents, and families from outside of River Run.  We love ALL our team members and would love to have others join us this season!!

-----------------------

Team Swim Suits: While not required, we do recommend Raptor swim team members purchase our team suit (photos on our website).   Raptor team suit is available for purchase at The Swimmer's Edge Store (7532 Janes Ave, Woodridge, IL 60517).  I suggest trying out your suit at the store, especially if you are new to racing suits.  You can also contact Swimmer's Edge at  (630) 985-2334.

Ask for the River Run Raptor Team Suit - they will have the style information, as well as preferred team pricing.

Sponsor Opportunity:  Interested in supporting the Raptors as a team sponsor or know of some who might be interested?   We offer several levels of sponsorship which include banners at swim meets and water polo games, company logos on our team shirts, and recognition on our team website and in the Raptor Reporter.   As a 401(c)3 orgainzation, all sponsorships are tax deductible.  For more infomation click the following link:  /recnbrrril/UserFiles/Image/QuickUpload/raptors-sponsorship-packet-2019-final_064452.pdf  or contact Jen Malinsowski (jenm710@yahoo.com) for more information.
