River Run Raptors Update - Midseason Notes

Hi Raptors! Hard to believe we are reaching the halfway point in the swim season!! I’d like to thank all of the volunteers so far for all your help -- literally the meets can run without you!  Please read the notes below

Championship Meets - Fun and for EVERYONE

Details:

  • The Naperville Swim Conference holds 2 Championship Meets at the end of each season: Classic Meet & City Meet.  We celebrate the Championship meet swimmers with a send off party,  posters and fun ~ it's a great end to the summer season!!

  • Which meet should my swimmer(s) attend?

    • ATTEND CITY MEET IF….

    • ATTEND CLASSIC MEET IF…

      • You are are 7-12 years old and have NOT meet the qualifying times for City Meet

      • You are a 6 & under (all 6 & unders attend Classic Meet regardless of qualifying times)

  • What does a Championship Meet look like?

    • For Classic - the Conference is divided in half Classic  -- our Classic Meet will be in the morning on July 17th at Metea Valley High School

      • The meet lasts approx the same amount of time as a regular meet

      • The team areas will be staged outside (like normal meets) to allow families to spread out, only the swimming will be inside the building

      • Each team is required to provide workers, although every job will allow for you to watch your swimmers  (that’s why we are ALL there!)

    • For City  - the City Meet is broken into 3 sessions - 15& overs on Friday night 7/23, 7-10 year olds Saturday morning 7/24 and 11-14 year olds Saturday afternoon 7/24, the meet is held at Neuqua Valley

      • Each session lasts approx the same amount of time as a regular meet

      • The team areas will be staged outside (like normal meets) to allow families to spread out, only the swimming will be inside the building

      • Each team is required to provide workers, although every job will allow for you to watch your swimmers  (that’s why we are ALL there!)  -- if you have swimmers in multiple sessions or at both meets...you will only be required to work 1 job total over the 2 weekends!

WHAT NOW?

  • Declare for Championship Meets ASAP

    • Please go to the EVENTS section on the website and declare the meets you will be able to attend (i.e. you are in town and available!)

    • If your swimmer is 7-12 years old and you are not sure which meet they will attend yet, please submit availability for both meets and talk to Coach Crystal to determine what the best path is for your swimmer.

A Few Other Reminders...

  • RIBBONS:  Starting this week, we will begin ribbon distribution at practices once a week

    • Watch for the 2 black file boxes by the tables  - each swimmer has a file folder (alphabetically) in the box where they will find their ribbons from previous meets

    • Interested in recycling your ribbons?  Those who do not wish to keep their ribbons (or all of them) can place unwanted ribbons in the blue tabbed file folder at the back of each ribbon box! Thanks!

  • Don’t forget to commit to the remaining meets - the season goes fast, especially with the Fourth of July coming up soon!

  • Thanks to all the swimmers that are completing positive check in as they arrive at each meet!  Please make sure to arrive on time.  For the meet to begin on time, line up changes often have to be submitted by 7:45am/4:45pm respectively!

  • CHILLY WEATHER:  This week we are getting a little relief from the heat of the past few weeks, but especially for evening meets...this could get cold for our swimmers.

    • Please bring extra dry towels, sweatshirts/pants, even blankets/sleeping bags to keep swimmers warm between events  (And parents, don’t forget a jacket for yourself, too!!)
