River Run Raptors

Raptors Update - Championship meets, End of the Season Celebration and more!

Raptors Swimming

 Hi Raptors!

Hard to believe we are down to our last few dual meets of the season and Championship meets are right around the corner! Please read the update below for details as we finish out our 2021 season!!  Thanks!!

Championship Meets:

  • Please Declare you swimmers for the City and Classic Swim Meets by THIS FRIDAY 7/9!  If you are unsure which meet your swimmer(s) should attend or have a swimmer who is very close to City times -- please communicate with Coach Crystal to determine which is the best fit for your swimmers.
  • All dual meet times through the 7/13 make up meet against South Pointe will count to achieve qualification times for City Meet
  • The Naperville Swim Conference has not released all details (warm up times, etc) for the Championship meets, however we do know the following:
    • For Both Classic and City, the team areas will be outside as will the bullpen
    • At Championship meets, all swimmers (regardless of which team they are on) will all bullpen in one area (**This is different from regular season meets)
    • While the team areas will be outside, the pools will be indoors (Classic = Metea Valley, City = Neuqua Valley)
    • SPECTATORS:  Spectators will be allowed to watch in the view areas, but will be VERY LIMITED.  For City Meet, spectators will be limited to 2 people for each of your swimmers(s) events.  Following their swim, spectators will be cleared from the stands to allow the next group of parents in to watch their swimmers.   Classic Meet has not given specifics of the parent viewing area yet, but we anticipate it will be similar  (no spectators will be allowed to remain in the stands for the whole meet)
      • Since the meets are held in public schools, masks will be mandatory for spectators and workers alike when in the building
    • More details will be available next week and will be shared as soon as we can!

End of the Season Celebration ~ SAVE THE DATE for Sunday 7/25 1-3pm

  • This year's End of the Season Celebration will be held outside at the River Run Club on July 25th from 1-3pm
  • This year's event will be a more casual, outdoor event than in previous years (hopefully fancy will return in the future!)
  • Team Trophies for all swimmers and Special awards will be give during the event in addition to a chance to celebrate a great 2021 season!!
  • RSVP and further details to come next week ~ STAY TUNED!

Looking Ahead to Next Year: Opportunities!!

  • As this year comes to a close, we are looking to fill some Raptor Board and Committee Chair positions for the 2022 season!
  • Each of these positions take the place of your regular season volunteer slots (while this year was lower due to covid-related temporary rules, the job requirement has typically been 6 jobs in the past)
  • Many of the roles available also give families the flexibility to complete their roles on their own time schedule, and free up time at meets to watch your swimmer(s)
  • None of these roles require a background as a swimmer! :)
    • Raptor Board (1-2 openings): assist with planning, coordinating the swim season including: coach hiring, committee oversight, swim team registration, planning for meets and events
    • Committee Chair Positions:
      • Volunteer Coordinator:  assists families in signing up for their required volunteer committment, prints and distributes worker name tags at swim meets
      • Social Chair: works with the board to plan and prepare for our team social events:  Pep Rally, Team Social (to return in 2022), and Banquet
      • Awards Chair (not to be confused with the ribbons chair!): helps recognize our swimmers by created bag tags for each home meet, ensuring there are bag tags ready for distribution at each home swim meet, helps to coordinate the trophies given to each swimmer at the end of the seaon
  • If you are interested in getting more involved in the team and think one of these would be a good fit for you -- please reach out to any of the current Raptor Board Members for my details (Jenn Buedel, Jen Malinowski, Tammi Anderson, Tracy Jendruczek) for more information.
