ASHBOURNE POOL RULES

*These are subject to change at any time at the discretion of the board.  Members will be notified of any changes

Food and Drinks:

  • No food or drinks are allowed on the lower deck (except by the rear seating area near the fire pit) or inside the dolphin ring around the baby pool. 
  • Chewing gum is not permissible anywhere on the pool grounds.
  • NO GLASS containers or items of any kind are allowed inside the pool area or pool grounds.
  • Everyone is responsible for cleaning up the trash around their areas.

Safety Outside the Water:

  • Everyone must walk in and around the pool area. Running is not permitted for any reason.
  • The playground area is for children 12 and under. Parents/Guardians must supervise their own children.

Water Safety:

  • Horseplay is not prohibited in the pool. i.e. chicken fights, grabbing or dunking others, twists or flips from the side.
  • Only soft water balls may be used for catching games in the main pool. The use of these items is at the discretion of the guards. No other toys are permitted in the main pool.
  • The use of the basketball hoop in the pool is limited to one ball at a time and can be used at the discretion of the guards.  The guards also reserve the right to limit the area of play. 
  • All swimmers MUST wear swimming attire, no cut offs or street clothes are permitted.
  • Children using floatation devices in the main pool MUST wear a Coast Guard approved life jacket or a full body suit with flotation materials build in.  No Inflatable Swimmies are allowed.  Child must be accompanied by a responsible adult while in the big pool.
  • No spitting in the water or on the deck areas.
  • Adult swim:  individuals must be 16 years or older; Children under 3 years are allowed in the pool with parent.  All other children must leave the lower deck during Adult Swim.
  • Use of tubes and noodles will be allowed on Tube Nights only. 

Diving Board and Slide Rules (see additional rules at the equipment)

  • Prior to using the board or the deep end, you must have passed the swim test.  Please see a guard to make sure you are OK to use the board or swim in the deep end.
  • Diving Board handrails will be cleaned every hour in accordance with state regulations regarding Covid-19, during this time the diving board will be closed.
  • We are asking swimmers waiting to use the diving board to try to maintain at least 6 feet between them and others while waiting in line, that distance will be indicated by markers on the pool deck.  Please be aware of these markers.
  • While the diving board is in use, there are to be no swimmers in the deep end.  Swimmers using the diving board are to jump straight off the board and swim directly to the ladder or under the rope.  The next swimmer should wait until the previous person has reached the ladder or gone under the rope before jumping off.
  • Swimmers may use the deep end when the diving board is closed.  This will be noted by the presence of an orange cone on the board.  Please ask the lifeguard on duty before opening or closing the diving board.
  • The slide will remain closed at this time.
  • If you have any questions, please see Pool Manager Brendan or a guard.

You must pass the SWIM TEST to be allowed on the board/slide or in the deep end. See the lifeguards for details.

Baby Pool Rules:

  • Children MUST be 6 years or under to be in the Baby Pool.
  • If not potty-trained, children MUST always wear swim diapers AND rubber pants in both the baby and main pool.
  • Food and drinks must always remain outside of the dolphin ring.
  • Parents are responsible for supervising their children at all times. 

Smoking:

  • Smoking is permitted only in the designated smoking area out past the basketball court.
  • Chewing tobacco on the pool grounds is not prohibited. 

Other Rules:

  • INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.  This includes: bad or foul language, any attempt to cause physical harm to anyone, arguing with any member of the pool staff, fellow member, or visitor, refusing to follow directions given by a member of the pool staff.
  • Anyone demonstrating these behaviors may have their pool privileges suspended.
  • All parents/guardians are responsible for their own children.
  • Under NO circumstances should you ever approach the parent(s) of the other child.
  • Under NO circumstances should you ever touch someone else's child.
  • If, as a parent, you have a problem with someone else's child, please inform the pool manager who will handle the situation.
  • This is a FAMILY pool environment and under NO circumstances should parents be arguing with one another in front of children.  This behavior from parents will NOT be tolerated.
  • The pool is NOT responsible for any personal belongings.

Guests:

  • Each family is allowed up to 4 guests at any one time.
  • An adult member MUST always be at the pool while guests are present. 
  • It is the responsibility of the member to ensure all guests are familiar with the rules prior to arriving and are responsible for their guest while on the premises.
