Ryan Jones Aquatic Director for Rocklin Swim Team
We are pleased to announce that Ryan Jones has agreed to return to the Rocklin Swim Team (RST) as Aquatics Director, effective immediately. This marks Ryan’s return to RST following a decade’s long run as Head Coach of Wave. His previous tenure ended in 2016, so that Ryan could return to UC Berkeley to earn his bachelor’s degree. As Aquatics Director, Ryan will oversee all coaching staff and swim programs, including the Mavericks Team, Wave Team, Splash Pre-Team and Swim School which includes our Adaptive Swim/Love Olivia program for those participants with special needs.
Building on successful 2019 Spring and Summer campaigns, the Board of Directors of RST recognized the need for additional leadership to execute on its mission statement and to implement its vision for the “umbrella” that is the Rocklin Swim Team. We knew that Ryan Jones was an excellent fit for this position.
Ryan is widely respected throughout the NorCal region as a leader in the swim community, and despite spending 3 years away from full time coaching, still stays very close to all Aquatics programs in the area. Pete Motekaitis, a former coach of Ryan’s and currently an Associate Head Coach at UC Davis had this to say about Ryan: “Ryan Jones understands; elite swimming, rec swimming, pre-team and learn to swim at the highest level. He brings energy, enthusiasm and caring every moment he is on deck. He is a man of expectational character who helps mold and guide everyone in the pool and on the deck.”
We are in our 24th year as an organization and Ryan being the main architect behind the expansion of the full breadth of aquatics programs that Rocklin Swim Team offers, makes him uniquely qualified to lead RST into its next phase of evolution. “Ryan’s passion for the sport of swimming, his ability to unify and lead other coaches, and to set an example for the pride, tradition and strong values of RST is exactly what we believe this organization needs at this time,” added Travis Miller, RST President.
