Fees to Join the Penguins Swim and Dive Team
The cost to participate on the competition Penguins Swim and Dive Team includes two components: (1) a Pool fee comprised of a pool membership at the City of Newport's Veteran's Memorial Pool for any family with an athlete, and (2) payment of the Team fee per athlete.
If you are a Resident of Newport: Pool membership is $150 for a family of up to 5. Team fees are $50 per athlete. For example:
- With Mom and/or Dad (or other guardian) and 3 kids (5) its $150 for the entire summer to swim at the pool. If 2 kids want to swim it is $50 for each child ($100 total). The grand total would be $250.
- With Mom and/or Dad (or other guardian) and 5 kids (7) its $150 for the entire summer to swim at the pool. An additional $25 each ($50 total) for the 2 people over 5. If 2 kids want to swim it is $50 for each child ($100 total). The grand total would be $300.
If you are not a Resident of Newport, Pool Membership cost is $150 for up to a family of five. Team fees are $75 per athlete. For example:
- With Mom and/or Dad (or other guardian) and 3 kids (5) its $150 for the entire summer to swim at the pool. If 2 kids want to swim it is $75 for each child ($150 total). The grand total would be $300.
- With Mom and/or Dad (or other guardian) and 5 kids (7) its $150 for the entire summer to swim at the pool. An additional $25 each ($50 total) for the 2 people over 5. If 2 kids want to swim it is $75 for each child ($150 total). The grand total would be $350.
Financial Assistance May Be Available
A mission of the Team is to make swimming and diving accessible to ALL area children, without cost as a barrier. If swim lessons, Junior Team and/or Swim and Dive Team fees may prevent involvement of any child(ten), financial assistance, need-based scholarships are available. Penguins Swim Lesson Program
If you are only signing up a child(ren) for the Penguins Swim Lesson Program and do not have any family member on the Swim and Dive Team, you do not need to sign up for a family pool membership. Lessons are free for Campbell County residents and $50 per session for those that reside outside of Campbell County. Registration is on a first come basis, and once a session is full it cannot be expanded.
