Joseph Talbot Head Coach

Joe is a former assistant coach of the mudrats where he led the 11-12 boys, 7-8 all practices, and was an assistant coach for the 11-12 girls. In 2020, Joe finished his Bachelors of Science in Information Systems from the Rochester Institute of Technology where he was the assistant Intro to Weightlifting instructor. This Fall, Joe will be heading to Illinois State University to start his masters degree in STEM Education to continue his coaching and teaching career. Joe’s coaching philosophy is to coach to the individual and foster an environment that supports a lifelong love of sport/exercise. He is very excited to lead this team and to create a safe, fun, and enriching environment for the swimmers this year. 


Jessica Sanders Assistant Coach

Jessica joins the Mudrat swim team as an assistant coach with an abundance of knowledge and passion for the sport. She began swimming competitively at the age of 10 with the NAPY YMCA porpoises. After her family moved to Cypress, Texas, Jessica continued her swimming career with the  CFSC FLEET swim team. When her family moved back to Naperville, Jessica then swam for Naperville Central High School and Maverick Swim Club. Currently in her swimming career, Jessica is a National level swimmer for FMC Aquatics and is committed to Swim Division 1 at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the fall where she intends to major in Nursing and minor in Spanish. Jessica has previously worked at Centennial Beach as both a Lifeguard and a Swim Lesson Instructor.

Sonja Shirkevich Assistant Coach

Sonja is going to be a sophomore at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (Go Illini!) studying international relations and economics. She is the VP of Finance for her sorority, Alpha Omicron Pi, and in the socials committee for two clubs. Sonja, a former Mudrat swimmer, began swimming in Nequa Valley HS for fun. She has worked at the beach as a swim lesson instructor since 2018. Fun Sonja facts: her favorite color is purple, her favorite food is spicy tofu stew, and she can speak Chinese! 

Addison Dietz Assistant Coach

Addison Dietz currently attends Carthage College with a double major in neuroscience and biology.  She swam for 10 years with her best events being distance events.  Addison has been teaching swim lessons and coaching swim teams for the past four years.
