WELCOME TO THE STILLWATER STARZ

 

Welcome to the Stillwater Starz' 2023 season! We are pleased to again offer electronic registration and payment processing, a process that's simple for both new and returning members. Once registered, you'll gain access to an online account through which you can easily declare for swim meets, sign up for jobs, see your children's swim times histories, maintain your own contact information, and more.

Swim team is open to ALL swimmers, ages 5-18. Swimmers who are nearly able to swim a length of the pool independently but who may require assistance in the water early in the season are welcome and can be accommodated as Morning Practice members in the 9:50AM group. Non-Stillwater residents are welcome, too! Please look for our new seasonal family membership for non-resident members, which allow non-resident families full access to the Stillwater Club pool, racquet and sport courts, and social events for the first time ever!

 

Please Note

The "Referred By" line on the account page must be completed to proceed with the registration. If you are a returning member, please enter "SELF."  Returning families will earn a free 30-minute private lesson for each new family they refer to the team. For this reason, new member families should enter the last name of the family that has referred them to the team during registration.

 

The Season

The team participates in eight dual meets (Tuesday/Thursday evenings or Saturday mornings), two invitational meets (age-limited), and two exciting championship meets (swimmers enter one of the two) at the conclusion of the season. Before dual meets begin, we offer an intrasquad Time Trial at our own pool; it’s a great chance for all swimmers to warm up for the season—and for new swimmers and families to learn how a swim meet is run. We’d love for your family to join the fun! 

This summer’s meets, as always, are optional for all swimmers. However, whether or not their children are swimming, all families are required to supply an adult (parent) worker to help staff approximately 4-5 dual meets. More information on our job requirement is provided later in the registration process, and it's described in greater detail in our Family Handbook (available at stillwaterstarz.org). In addition, all families are required to supply one adult (parent) worker for Time Trials, Invitationals, and end-of-season Championships if they have a swimmer participating.

 

Practices

Preseason practices for ALL swimmers begin the evening of Tuesday, May 30, and continue through D204’s last day of school, Friday, June 2. Preseason practices will follow the "Evening Group Practice Hours" schedule below for all swimmers.

Regular season practices begin on the first Monday after school ends, June 5, and continue Monday-Friday (mornings) or Monday and Wednesday (evenings) until the Classic Championship Meet (or City Championship Meet, for qualified swimmers).

 

 

Morning Group Practice Hours

Swimmers selecting the morning program will practice Monday through Friday mornings and may attend all meets and activities.

 

7:30-8:20 a.m.	11 and over
8:20-9:10 a.m.	9/10
9:10-9:50 a.m.	7/8
9:50-10:20 a.m.	6U and swimmers requiring extra assistance

(10:20-10:50 Team Development Session/Individually Arranged Private Instruction)

 

Evening Group Practice Hours

The evening program will practice Monday and Wednesday. Evening swimmers may attend all meets and activities. 

*To ensure appropriate supervision and attention for all, evening practice group swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool unassisted (any stroke).

 

6:15-7:00 p.m.	8 and under
7:00-8:00 p.m.	9 and over

 

 

Meets

Our dual meets are scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. 

 

 

Registration Fees

Please note that this year's modest, $10 fee increase will cover your child's participation, food, and refreshments at all pre- and in-season team social events held at Stillwater Club, including Meet the Coaches Pizza Party and Information Night, Fun Friday treats, and the Championship Week Kickoff Party. We will no longer assess separate registration fees for these fun, all-team events!  A latex team swim cap is also included with all 2023 swimmer registrations.                                              

 

 

Non-Resident Fee and Optional Seasonal Stillwater Club Membership

Not a Stillwater resident? No problem! The Starz is a welcoming team, and we're happy to have neighbors from other communities join us! ALL non-residents are assessed a nominal $25 per family (not per child) fee during registration. This fee provides non-resident swim team members limited access to the Stillwater pool for team practices, meets, and social events only. But wait...looking for more summer fun?

NEW THIS SEASON: For the first time ever, for an annual fee of $375, non-resident families can choose to add a full seasonal family membership to Stillwater Club to their swim team registration. Selecting this optional add-on at the end of the swim team registration process will entitle ALL members of swimmer’s household to full use of Stillwater Club pool, tennis/pickleball courts, sport court, and all summer social events from seasonal pool opening to close. Non-resident swim families who add this option at registration will be contacted later this spring with instructions for securing their family's Stillwater Club pool passes for the 2023 season. This opportunity is limited to currently registered non-resident swim team families only.

PARENT WORKERS

 

Parent Worker Obligation

The Stillwater Starz is a volunteer-run organization; there are no paid timers, officials, or other staff. Without the hard work and dedication of our parents, our swim meets could not take place. While meet participation is always optional (but encouraged) for swimmers, Starz parents should expect to work 4-5 dual meets (one parent worker/proxy per registered family, per meet) regardless of their child's competition status. If your child swims at time trials, a championship meet, or an invite, you will need to work these meets as well. It is only through the hard work of our team parents that we are able to offer competitive opporutnities for the kids in our community at such an affordable rate; thanks for your part in making that happen!

 

Parent Worker "No Show" Fees

In the event that a family (or their substitute/proxy) fails to complete a parent worker assignment, a $100 "No Show" fee will be assessed to the credit card on file. If a second job assignment is missed, a second $100 fee will be assessed, and this process will continue until the end of the season. Please note that if a family is unable to fulfull a worker obligation, it is the responsiblity of that family to find a substitute or hire a proxy (not the responsibility of the volunteer Parent Board). Resources such as the Parent Job Swap group on Facebook and our proxy worker list are intended to make this easier for families. 

 

Online Parent Worker Sign-Up

Job sign-up will take place online at stillwaterstarz.org during a week-long period in late May. Families will be notified via email when job sign-up opens. You must be registered, with a credit card on file, to select your jobs. Families are encouraged to sign up early for the most choice in dates and jobs. If your swimmer is registered, and you fail to sign up for the required number of jobs before job sign-up closes, our volunteer Jobs Coordinator will select meets and jobs for you from those that remain and you'll be assessed a fee of $25 per meet Manual Sign-Up fee to your credit card on file.
