Welcome

On behalf of the Walnut Creek Swim Team and its Board of Directors, welcome to the 2020 Summer swim team! The Summer swim team program is recreationally competitive. We hold practice and meets in the neighborhood of Walnut Creek in Parkville, Missouri. The neighborhood Homes Association is a big supporter and along with an exclusive group of community businesses, sponsors our team. We are a member of Missouri Valley Swimming under USA Swimming, which is the national governing body for competitive swimming. We participate with a total of 11 teams in the Northland Conference.  The Northland Conference competes from June through July, culminating in a 3 day championship meet at the end of the season.

Mission Statement

To promote the sport of competitive swimming through positive motivation and the teaching of sound stroke mechanics in a fun, healthy and respectful atmosphere, encouraging sportsmanship and personal growth at all levels.

Philosophy

  • To recognize and promote swimming as a life-long activity, which can contribute significantly to the physical and emotional growth and development of swim team members through healthful exercise.
  • To develop and teach proper sportsmanship.
  • To promote and develop a positive team atmosphere through individual and team effort and spirit.
  • To improve the technical ability and overall performance of each swimmer in a safe, quality, athletic training program.

Fees and Registration

Eligibility

Swimmers must:

  • be 5-18 years of age as of June 1st
  • demonstrate the ability to enter the water unaided
  • swim the width of the pool (any stroke) without resting on the bottom of the pool

Team Fees 

Fees cover expenses such as coaching fees, insurance, Northland Swim Conference fees, USA Swimming fees and equipment (public address system, upkeep on starting blocks, lane ropes, flags, tables, etc.)

Online registration is open March 25 – May 15.  We will have one on-site registration day at the clubhouse on April 19th 4:30pm  to 6pm (postponed). If you plan to order a team suit, this will be the only day to try on suits to determine the size you need. Team suits are optional. Members of the Board will be available to answer any questions you have.

  • Registration is $140 per swimmer for Walnut Creek residents and $160 for non-residents. The swimmer's home address determines residency and will be verified by the WCSHA. 

  • A $30 per family fundraising fee will be added to cover some of the items listed above. 

  • Registration is $90 for current year round swimmers who participate on a USA swim team. Note: high school swim team does not qualify for this discount.

  • The Walnut Creek South Homes Association will provide a "subsidy" of $100.00 toward team fees for each resident swimmer who joins the team as a new member in 2020. The subsidy from the WCSHA does not apply to non-residents. The WCSHA will provide a "subsidy" of $50.00 toward team fees for each resident swimmer who was a new member in the 2019 season and who continues as a member in the 2020 season.​

  • A $20 late fee will be assessed for returning members who have not submitted their registration by May 15th.

  • USA Swimming Outreach Program!  Your swimmer may be eligible for this discounted USA Swimming membership if they qualify for the Free and Reduced Lunch Program.  If your swimmer will qualify, please complete the registration (but do not pay right away), then send us an email to [email protected]  Please include your name, your swimmers name, and a copy of the letter from your childs school stating their qualification for the program.  It is very important for us to have this documentation, without it your child will not be eligible for the discount.  Once this is received, we will manually discount you in our system and email you an updated total amount due. 

All registrations are to be completed online and fees may be paid online paypal.me/WalnutCreekSwimTeam or by check mailed to Walnut Creek Swim Team - PO Box 29296 Parkville, MO 64152. If an alternate payment method is necessary, please contact the Walnut Creek Treasurer [email protected]. Swimmers are not fully registered until payment is received.
