Go Sharks!

The Fair Oaks Sharks swim team is a seasonal competitive swim team offering high quality professional coaching and technique instruction. The team is currently in Division 2 of the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL), the largest summer competition league in the United States for ages 18 and under. Our goal is to meet each swimmer at their individual ability level and provide them with an opportunity to improve skills and achieve success. There are also many social team-building activities incorporated into our program to help create an overall positive swimming experience.

The Sharks operate as ONE team, both in and out of the water! However, skill level determines the meets in which swimmers are eligible to participate.

B Meets (Developmental Meets)

ALL Sharks swimmers are encouraged to participate in weekly B meets, typically on Monday evenings. These meets are against four nearby teams in the Fairfax Developmental League. Swimmers choose which strokes they wish to swim in B meets. The meets are not scored, but all times are recorded and are used for potential placement in A meets.

A Meets

Coaches select swimmers for A meets based on the fastest times in each age group (3 swimmers per event). A meets are NVSL-sanctioned meets between two teams in the same division, held on Saturday mornings. These meets are scored and count towards the team’s league standing. Additional A meets include the Divisional Relay Carnival, Divisional Individual Championship, All-Star Relay Carnival, and All-Star Individual Championship.
