Coach Tristan -

My name is Tristan Ripley and I’m 19 year old sophomore at James Madison University studying Integrated Science and Technology (ISAT). I have been on BSST since I was 4 years old and regard it as one of the best decisions of my life. I looked forward to summer swim every year. I hope that I can create those same feelings in your  kids with my extreme enthusiasm for swim team. Many of my favorite childhood memories happened at Burke Station and if your kids join, I hope to give them that same experience.

I started teaching kids to swim in my early teens as a Junior Destroyers’ coach and then moved on to private lessons. I was also a swim instructor at Kids First Swim School. Some of my students who started out acting like water was actively trying to kill them turned into kids who loved the water and wanted to excel at swimming. I loved to watch that transformation.

I have been swimming my whole life, moving between BSST to Makos and then on to Machine. I also swam for Lake Braddock Swim & Dive all four years and served as team “Chief” my senior year.

I’ve had some amazing and inspiring coaches over the years. My goal as coach is to make this season as fun as possible and get to know all the kids as best I can! And if after all that we still have some time, teach them to be better swimmers.

Can’t wait to meet y’all in a few weeks!

Coach Ryan -

Hello Burke Station families! My name is Ryan Lincicum and I am one of your coaches for this 2020-2021 season. I am 17 years old and will be graduating from Lake Braddock Secondary in June. This will be my twelfth year swimming with the Destroyers, as well as my second year coaching. As someone who has been a part of the BKS family for so long, I feel I understand what this team is really about. While getting faster and stronger is definitely important to me, my top priority will be to ensure that every swimmer looks forward to every practice and meet. This summer, I hope to pass on everything BKS has taught me about sportsmanship, teamwork and dedication.

Outside of Burke Station, I have swum with Machine Aquatics for the past 8 years and am now a member of their National Team. In addition, this winter I served as a team captain for the Lake Braddock Bruins and was awarded Athlete of the Month for my performance in the postseason. Although we were unable to have a normal season, I led the Bruins to the State competition and picked up two new school records on the way. In the fall, I will be attending Old Dominion University where I will continue my swimming career.
I look forward to getting to know all of our BKS swimmers and parents this summer and make this a season to remember. Go Destroyers!
