Greenbriar Dolphins - Week 8 News

Dan Klanderman

There is almost nothing more exciting than a close swim meet, and ours yesterday against the Dunn Loring Dolphins couldn’t have been any closer.  It was a tie with each team getting 210 of the possible 420 points.  While it doesn’t happen every week, it is not uncommon.  Congratulations to our Dolphin coaches and swimmers thanks for the nailbitier of a meet.  Congratulations as well to Jack Renner for improving on his record 13/14 50M Breaststroke record  Thank you to all the parents who made our final home Saturday meet a success, as well as our Swim and Dive Team late night event last night!

It’s hard to believe we are heading into the final week of the regular season.  Here’s what is going on.

Monday Night Home Meet: Sully Station @ Greenbriar

Tomorrow evening we host Sully Station at our pool.  This is our final home meet of the season.  We have over 100 of our own swimmers entered in to the meet along with the 90 or so from Sully Station so it’s going to be a big meet.  It’s also the meet where we swim the Individual Medley first so many of the swimmers will be attempting their first IM tomorrow night.  We have several positions we still need to fill, especially setting up at 4PM when the pool closes, so please head on over to the Event Page and click the “Job Signup” to select an open spot your family can complete for the team (

Pictures Have Arrived

If you ordered pictures they have been placed in your family folder at the pool.  Many of you have already picked yours up, but if you haven’t please do so as soon as possible.

Spirit Wear and Old Shirts and Caps

We are still taking orders for our second run of Spirit Wear.  If you wanted to order a team sweatshirt, baseball cap, T-shirt or more then click on this link and place your order today.  We need to place the order for these items at one time and will do so tomorrow or Tuesday so get your order in now.

We are also selling our overstock apparel (team T-shirts and team caps) at a discount.  To order those items please use this form.  We limited sizes and quantities of these items.  We recently added the remaining Large and X-Large versions of our team t-shirt as well as 20 or so of the latex caps of this years design.

Pep Rally Friday

Our final Pep Rally of the season is this coming Friday night.  The theme is “Decades” where swimmers, coaches, and parents dress up to blend in to their favorite decade.  Peg your pants, slick back your hair, or wear your tie-dye to celebrate the fun.  This is also the week where the team orders pizza for the team.  To that end, please help us estimate the needed number of pizzas by declaring your swimmers for this event on the Event Signup page.

Saturday will be our final dual meet of the season when we travel to Lakevale Estates over in Vienna.  The swimmer list will be e-mailed out Thursday and the meet sheet will be available on the Events page when it becomes available.

The 13&older Progressive Dinner (ProgDen19) will take place next Saturday.  We have our three venues and will open up signups for the remaining parents to identify what they are going to bring.  Expect more information soon 13&older parents, and we'll post everything you need to know on the Event Page.

All Star Relays

We wish all the best luck to our 11/12 and 13/14 boys free and medley relay teams as they head to the All Star Relay Carnival to complete against the 17 other fastest relays in their age groups this Wednesday!  The swimmers are:
