Parent Volunteer Commitment
Welcome Wildthing Parents! We are so glad to welcome you and your swimmers to the summer 2022 Langley Wildthings season! As returning families know, parent volunteers are key to the summer swim season. It takes well over 50 parent volunteers to run a typical home B meet and about 40 parent volunteers for a typical home A meet. Additionally, parent volunteers are instrumental in supporting the many fun Wildthing social activities packed into the short summer season. Without parent volunteers, the swim season simply would not happen – so thank you in advance for doing your part to support the team!
Minimum Volunteer Requirements. Your volunteer requirement is based on the number of swimmers in your family and whether they swim in: 1.) A and B meets; 2.) only B meets; 3.) or are Mini Wildthings swimmers.

*If your Mini Wildthing swimmer begins to participate in regular swim meets, the appropriate number of volunteer jobs will apply.
Reminders
• No more than one Social Job may count toward your requirements; most volunteer help is needed at swim meets: timing, officiating, marshalling, etc.
• If you are not sure if your swimmer will be selected for A meets, start by signing up for all your B meet jobs and then add A meet jobs later if your swimmer is selected. If your child is selected for A meets, you will need to work at most of the A meets in which your child is swimming.
• For the 2022 season, we anticipate opening the volunteer sign up around May 22 ; we will send an email a few days in advance of the signup going live. Please try to sign up for your jobs by Time Trials on June 11. If a meet you wish to volunteer for has no open jobs, check back to see if any slots open. Struggling to find a fit for your skills and schedule? Please reach out sooner rather than later!
• Unlike some youth sport programs, there is no “buyout” system – the team needs you at the meets! Volunteering is required for your children to participate in swim team, and it is a great way to meet other swim parents. Failure to satisfy the swim team volunteer commitment by the end of the regular swim season (July 22, 2022) may result in a $100 charge to your Langley Club account for the “Volunteer Non-Compliance Fee.”
