                                 (b) Swim Team 101

The Virginia Hills pool swim team, the Tidal Wave, is one of the oldest teams in the 102-team Northern Virginia Swimming League (NVSL).  Please visit the NVSL website for the latest league news, schedules, results, and standings.  Follow NVSL on Twitter @swimNVSL.

Swim Team, especially the Tidal Wave, is a one-of-a-kind summer experience that brings children (and parents) of all ages together to have fun; improve skills, endurance, and confidence in the water; and enjoy each other’s company and the camaraderie of a great team sport.

Swim Team is a fun-filled, jam-packed season beginning with our first practice on May 26th, 2020 and ending with our final Banquet & Awards ceremony on July 26th, 2020.

The Tidal Wave swim team is open to every pool member age 4 to 18. Young, old, rookie, and experienced swimmers all make up our team. Every pool member is encouraged to join. There are no try outs but registration for our Rookie and 8 & Under Age Groups may be capped at a number that keeps swimming safe and enjoyable for all, so please don't delay your membership application if you are thinking about joining swim team.

After-school practices begin the Tuesday after Memorial Day at the pool. Different times are set aside for each age group. Once school ends, practices switch to weekday mornings with condensed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings still offered for kids in day camps or daycare.

Swim meets begin on Saturday mornings in mid-June, and run through July. There are competitive meets (A meets) on Saturday mornings and developmental meets (B meets) on Monday evenings. Other fun team activities to fill your summer include the annual spaghetti dinner, ice cream socials, donut (Fri)days, the team campout, Kings Dominion Day, Nats Park outing, pancake breakfast, Friday night team socials, and our end-of-season banquet and awards evening.

Please review the information on the pages linked above and contact the Team Reps with any questions.

Remember, you must be a Virginia Hills Pool member to join the swim team.
