CCC Marlins Update Week of June 20th 2022

Hello Marlin Families!

We’ve got a busy week of swim ahead, including 2 meets, an invitational, the favorite social activity of the summer and lots more…. Read On for All the News!

In this week’s update:

1. TONIGHT!!!! Monday, June 20th - Family Bingo Night, 6-8pm

Join for a fun Family bingo night.  Fun for everyone! Bring your dinner or eat before! Bring your swimsuits too for an evening swim.  Prizes included. 

 

2. Wednesday night 6/22 HOME vs. Orinda Park Pool- 

A+3 meet (max of 4 heats per age group, per event), one heat of IM, No Relays

  • 4:10 Arrival
  • 4:20 CCC Warm Up
  • 5:00 Volunteer Check in
  • 5:20 Team Meeting
  • 5:30 Start 

Food truck on Wednesday night – Catered by Limitless Kitchen.  Carne Asada Burritos, Quesadillas, Loaded Nachos, Fruit Cups, chips & drinks. 

 

3. Saturday, June 25th @ 9:00 am is the Pentathlon vs. Miramonte @ Miramonte High School.  

A pentathlon is a meet where all swimmers swim all events that they are legal in (6U’s DO NOT swim IM) and the events are held in reverse order. Fly, Back, Breast, Free, IM. There are no relays at this meet.  Please note, there will be NO CONCESSIONS at the Pentathlon! 

  • 8:05 Arrival
  • 8:15 CCC Warm Up
  • 8:30 Volunteer Check in
  • 8:50 Team Meeting
  • 9:00 Start

For those swimming in the Bottoms Up invitational on Sunday, you will receive a separate email with all of that info.  
 

4a. Dive and Turn Drop-in Clinic - Friday, June 24th @ 4:15-5:00
Looking to improve on your starts?  Need a little extra instruction on your turns? 

This week 8 & Under’s will again concentrate on Dives. 9 & Ups can either do dives, or work on their turns.  

4b. PRIVATE LESSONS are available!

Check out our lesson website: cccmarlins.setmore.com for availability with your preferred coach or try somebody new! Lessons are 20 minutes long and range from $12 for a coach-in-training, to $30 for head coaches. We will continue to add more coaches and availability as needed. Please book 48 hours in advance to give our coaches ample notice and also please check the Covid19 and cancellation policy on booking.

 

5. Awards Callouts: 612 POPS AND COUNTING!!!!  

As promised, by surpassing the 500 pops milestone, the swimmers earned a special reward to be given out during Buddy Night. Don’t miss it! 

  • Congratulations to Olivia C. (50 Back) and Zibin Z. (100 IM) for their new Gold Time achievements!
  • Attention: Family folders are starting to get full; please remind swimmers to pick up their ribbons, medal pins, and ring pops

 

6a. Thursday, June 23rd - Buddy Night, 5-7:30pm

We are so excited to host Buddy Night again at CCC. This is an event not to be missed. All kids will be paired up with a buddy for a fun night of games, a waterslide, pizza, dessert, and a dance party to cap it off. Please note, RSVP's have closed for this event. We look forward to seeing those who have registered there. 

A few notes for this event:

- All kids 5 or younger need to have an adult present.

- Kids should plan to wear a swimsuit and bring extra towels

 

6b.Adult Social Activity Sign Ups Reminder – RSVP as you would for a job!

  • Saturday 7/9: Poker Night –Come one come all! CCC Poker night is not just for cardsharks!! Beginners and experts, Moms and Dad, neighbors and cousins all welcome! 
  • Sunday 7/24: Mom’s Wellness Morning. Come to the pool for some Sunday morning relaxing and socializing while enjoying Pilates and Mimosas!
     

7a. Need to Complete Your Job Commitment? Timer jobs available!

Timers needed for the following upcoming Meets. If you have not yet met your Job Commitment for the season, we are in need of filling the following jobs:

  • June 25 Saturday Away @ Miramonte-Pentathlon. One Timer and Two Timer/Recorders still needed
  • July 16 Saturday Away @ Rancho Salano. One Timer needed

7b. OMPA Jobs Open for Sign Up Sunday 6/26 at 10am!!

OMPA jobs will be open for sign up at 10am on Sunday. As a reminder every family, excluding Mini-only families, is required to fill one OMPA job. This is in addition to your regular season job commitment

A Special Request from the Board: We also ask that even if your child is not swimming, that you still sign-up for one job. In the event that you have another commitment, we ask that you hire a Substitute worker. Running the OMPA Meet takes a considerable amount of volunteers and your commitment to fill one job makes it possible for this Meet to occur. Thank you for all your help in making this a great Season Finale Event for the team!

8. REMINDER: 4th of July Break

Reminder, NO swim activities for all swimmers on July 1 – July 4th

Mini’s and Learn To Swim have so activities from June 28th – July 4th
