Charlie Nanfria, Head Coach

Charlie Nanfria grew up in Danville where he attended and swam at San Ramon Valley High School, and later swam for and graduated from Biola University in Southern California. He held 3 school records at Biola in the 200 fly, and the 200 and 400 medley relays. Charlie has been coaching since 2010. Both Charlie and his wife Meghan are excited to be returning back to the Bay Area to be near family!


Cathy Durden, Assistant Coach

Cathy returned to coaching in 2018 after taking 10 years off to raise her two children, Jack and Mia, both of whom swim for MCC. She spent 2017-2019 at Scottsdale swim team in Walnut Creek, helping guide the team to a 5th place team finish at the county meet.  She has coached many different levels including learn-to-swim, summer league and D1 collegiate swimming. Cathy grew up in Ohio and was recruited to swim at Auburn University where she was a 3 time All-American. After her collegiate career she joined the coaching staff at Auburn from 2003-2005 during which the Auburn men won three NCAA team titles and the women won two.  Cathy enjoys working with each swimmer to unlock their personal potential in the sport and is very excited to be coaching at MCC this summer! Look for Cathy's husband, Dave, on tv this summer- he is the head men's swimming coach at Cal and the Head Olympic Coach for TEAM USA in Tokyo! Let's Go WAVES!


Kristen Cunnane, Assistant Coach

Kristen Cunnane competed at MCC as a youth swimmer and went on to be an All American, Olympic Trials Semi-Finalist and Team Captain at UCLA. Coached at CAL from 2005-2015 where the program won 4 Pac-12 and 4 NCAA Championships and she was named NCAA Assistant Coach of the Year. Earned a Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in Achievement in Athletics from CAL. 


Dalen Schnayer, Senior Coach

Dalen grew up in lamorinda swimming in the OMPA league since he was 8 months old. He was at Moraga Ranch for 8 years and at Meadow for 7. Then he went to swim at Orinda Aquatics for two years, swimming at various travel meets such as Far Westerns and Speedo Sectionals. Tendonitis made him take a step back from swimming for awhile. He has been at MCC for two years now, coaching kids of all ages, 3 to 18. He will be attending Boise State in the fall, but until then he will be coaching and swimming for MCC. Go WAVES! 


Lleyton Allen, Senior Coach

Lleyton grew up in Moraga and has been with MCC since 2005. His last swim meet was on July 20th, 2018, when he decided to finish his swim career and become a coach. He has coached kids ranging in age from 4-18. As well as swimming, Lleyton has been acting and singing all around the Bay Area since 5-years-old. He has performed the National Anthem for over 200 sporting events hosted by OMPA, Campolindo High School, University Of California Berkeley, and Saint Mary's College. Lleyton will be posting updates regularly on our Instagram page and will be utilizing junior coach Kate Dendinger as a caption consultant. He is excited to be a part of the 2021 coaching staff and is pumped to work with the kids of MCC. GO WAVES!


Christian Markey, Senior Coach

Christian Markey is returning for his 6th season coaching the waves. As a swimmer, Christian swam competitively through high school and for over 6 years with Orinda Aquatics. His best achievements as a swimmer include Colorado State Champion (8&U), 2x  NCS champion, Sectionals qualifier, and 4x Pacific Swimming record holder. Now Christian is studying environmental science and playing club soccer at UCSC. He is absolutely stoked to return from school to join the waves coaching staff this summer! GO WAVES !!!


Kate Rochios, Senior Coach / Microwaves Coordinator

Kate grew up in Moraga and has been swimming in OMPA since she was 6 years old. She has been on MCC since she was 12 years old. Kate played water polo at Indiana for one semester before coming home and now she attends DVC where she is on the swim and water polo team. She plans on transferring this coming spring to either a UC or Santa Clara University to play water polo again. Kate is excited for this summer swim team and hopes everyone has an awesome summer swimming! Go Waves!!!


Jenna Muller, Senior Coach / Microwaves Coordinator

Jenna Muller is a college athlete who spent 8 years of her childhood swimming at MCC. After moving to Orinda Aquatics, she discovered her love for mid-distance races, and continued swimming year-round for an additional 7 years. In high school, she competed for Campolindo, earning a top 20 spot in the 500 free at NCS. She continued her swimming career at Pacific Lutheran University, earning second place at the Northwest Conference Championships in the 500 free and top 8 times in the 200 IM and 200 free. She just graduated from PLU with her Bachelor’s degree in English, earning additional minors in French, Literature, Business, and Criminal Justice. She is excited to spend the summer coaching for MCC. Go WAVES!
