Invitational Swim Meets

July is  our very busy  Invitational season, with Invitational Meets throughout the month.  These meets are typically on a Sunday with one notable exception -- OPP Relays. See below for a description of our invitationals in chronological order.

OPP RELAYS: OPP Relays is a  thrilling all-relay meet hosted by the parents and swimmers of Park Pool and designed to provide an opportunity for six teams -- OPP and the top finishers from the previous season's OMPA Championship -- to compete in events which emphasize teamwork and team spirit.  There are five relays in which 5-6 swimmers from each age group participate. The meet concludes with the Parents Relay and the always-suspenseful Coaches Relay.

BOTTOMS UP:  This all day event is for all swimmers at the bottom of their age group (5, 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 year olds as of June 15), and involves all of the teams in the OMPA league. This meet is a great opportunity for swimmers at the bottom of their age group to shine when they may be having a challenging season.  The meet is hosted by MVP and held at Miramonte HS.

MEADOW MINI-MEET:  This meet is for all 8-and-Under swimmers. The age groups  are defined by the swimmer's age on the day of the meet -- the June 15th rule does not apply at this meet. The morning session is for 4, 5 and 6 year olds, and the afternoon session for 7 and 8 year olds. The meet is hosted by and held at Meadow Pool.

SLEEPY HOLLOW ’B’ INVITATIONAL:  This is a special meet for “B” swimmers hosted by and held at Sleepy Hollow.  Sleepy Hollow establishes B time standards and other rules for participation in this event. The meet starts at 8:30 a.m. and runs until about 3:00 p.m.

SIGN-IN DEADLINES for INVITATIONALS:  Sign-ins deadlines for invitational meets  are approximately 3 weeks before the event.  Please double-check the meet sheet you receive to make certain that your swimmer is correctly entered and contact the  coaches at  [email protected] immediately if there is a problem. We pay a fee for each swimmer registered in an Invitational -- you may be fined these fees for no-showing at the event.

WORK DUTY for INVITATIONALS: Typically each attending team is assigned a handful of work duty assignments at an invitational meet.  In addition to the required 4 regular season meets, you may be assigned a work duty at an invitational meet IF your child is swimming in that meet.  We do our best to make sure that every family only works ONE invitational meet per year, so we thank you in advance for your time and willingness to represent the WAVES at these meets.
