Austin Rider

Austin began his swimming career in the Herndon Swim League with his neighborhood Kingston Chase Fighters, for which he swam 11 summer seasons before switching to the Four Seasons Tidal Waves for his final 2 seasons. He also swam for four years with both the Herndon Aquatic Club Commanders club team and the Herndon Hornets high school team, where he mainly competed in the 200 and 500 freestyle events.

Austin’s coaching career began when he took an assistant coach position with Four Seasons; he held that title for two years while he was swimming under his older sister before taking over as head coach for the next three seasons.

After moving on from the Tidal Waves, Austin accepted a position with Machine Aquatics, where he has coached the Gear and Senior-level swimmers at their UMD and Fairland locations since September of 2019. With one very odd Adelphi season under his belt, Austin now looks forward to a return to somewhat-normal in his second year with the team. Go Dolphins!

Kevin Long

Kevin swam competitively in central Va for 15 years and competed in three YMCA Nationals and two Y Junior Nationals. Kevin went to college in Florida at Indian River State College where he was a sprint Freestyler and Butterflier. After coaching for a season in VA at H2Okie where he had a group of thirty age group swimmers he moved to Machine in 2016 and began coaching the age group lvl swimmers at Fairland. He coached two seasons at that level and in 2018 was promoted to Site Coach at Fairland and took over the National Prep Group there. He is also the Lead Coach for the Machine Developmental Stroke Mechanics Group that practices at University Of Maryland during the Short Course seasons. Kevin was Head Coach for two undefeated seasons (2017/2018) at Maple Lawn Swim Team in Fulton, MD. This will be Kevin's third season as an assistant coach for the Adelphi Dolphins.

Marcela Chavez

I’ve been an Adelphi dolphin since I can remember, competing since I was 4 years old. I’ve always loved the water. Every summer during my childhood was spent at Adelphi with my best friend building forts, playing ping pong, and swimming for hours in the sun. I’m really happy to be coaching and bringing the team that sense of a home away from home.

Jonah Valverde

Hi, I’m Jonah Valverde, and I am one of the assistant coaches for the Adelphi Dolphins for summer 2021! You all may know me from coaching Pod Squad, and I have been swimming for the team since 2011. I am also a member of Machine Aquatics Club, and swam varsity at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, where I graduated this year. In the fall, I will be attending the University of Chicago intending to study Global Studies and Sociology. I’m so excited to get to know you and your families this season, and make it fun and rewarding for each and every swimmer. Go Dolphins!
