WESTRIDGE WAVES RIPPLES Team Information:

 

History:   Team created by former WAVES swimmer, Alex MacDonald

                Team began in Summer 2014

                Program Head Coach: Coach Megan F.

Goals:  Develop swimming skills & confidence to be part of the WAVES competitive swim team. Focus will also be on basic water safety, pool rules, fun & friendship.     

  • Learn to Swim Program for ages 4-18 (if younger, inquire with coaches before registering by sending a message via the "Contact Us" link on the website)
  • Perfect for kids with disabilities
  • Low intensity
  • Practice:  30 minutes every other day from the first day after PWCS school ends until the week before Divisionals (typically scheduled for the last Saturday in July)
  • Low Swimmer to Captain ratio (4:1)
  • Focus on:
    • Confidence in water (including Deep water when ready)
    • Body Position / Ready Position Push Offs (both front & back)
    • Endurance & Stroke Discipline through repetition
    • Freestyle & Backstroke Technique
    • Swimmers own pace to develop swim skills
