Guppy Developmental Swim Program 2022

We are re-looking this program to be more inclusive of developing younger swimmers.   Suggestion(s) are welcome:

In addition to our competitive swim program, the Victory Lakes Piranhas offer the Guppy Developmental Swim Program.  The registration fee is $120 and includes guppy practice 4 times per week, a t shirt and a guppy meet at the end of the session.  Guppies practices run from June 20 through July 20 from 09:00-9:45 AM Mondays - Thursday.  Depending on the turn out, practice timee may be slightly altered to accomodate to sessions.   We are expanding the program to include 4 year olds; expanded to a 4 day program; and have made the times earlier in the morning in the activities pool to better accomodate pool, coaches, and time on deck.   The Guppy meet will be held on Tuesday, July 19, in the evening  5-8 pm. 

This program is for swimmers who:

~ Are Victory Lakes Residents (non residents will be accepted if there is space available)
~ Can swim 5 meters unassisted (does not have to be an identifiable stroke) - Evaluation dates are TBD
~ Are at least age 4 by June 1, 2022
~ Can separate from the parent
~ Are interested in becoming a Piranha some day

The program is NOT designed to replace beginner swim lessons. If the coaching staff deems during evaluations that a swimmer is not ready for the Guppy program, the Piranhas will issue a full refund of the registration fee. 

If space is available, swimmers older than seven (7) years of age in the current swim year at the time of registration may participate with VLSC BOD and coach approval.

Guppy swimmers do not participate in our weekly summer swim meets, but will have an inter-squad "mini-meet" at the end of the season.  This meet is run with the help of members of the Piranhas Swim Team and is very similar to a regular team meet. However, the events include freestyle, backstroke, kickboard and fun relays (as time permits).  This year the guppies will be conducted in the activity pool (Mushroom) that has a up to a depth of 4 feet.
