The Sea Devils are excited to announce our Coaching Staff for the 2022 Summer Season!  Visit this page throughout the week as we unveil the rest of our coaching staff for the summer!

Head Coach Karen Blocker

My name is Karen Blocker and I am super excited to be coaching the Virginia Oaks Sea Devils this summer!  I began swimming when I was seven years old at Cardinal Hill Swim Club, and I have loved the sport and summer swim ever since. I still remember one of my coaches telling me, ”Don’t bend your knees, point your trees,” so you may hear that on the pool deck! After high school, I swam for Mary Washington College and began coaching the summer after my freshman year at Sideburn Run and then Fairfax Station in the NVSL. When my husband and I moved to Bristow, I began coaching the Braemar Blasters and coached there for many years.  Currently, I work as an NILD therapist at Covenant Christian Academy.

My husband and I have 2 boys, Jacob who is 17, and Matthew who is 15. They love the water but fell in love with the sport of soccer so we spend a lot of time on the soccer fields. Our sweet lab hound mix named Bella rounds out our family. We love hiking, traveling, spending time with our family and friends, and being involved in our church. I love kids, coaching, and teaching so I can’t wait to get started coaching the team this summer! Go Sea Devils!

Assistant Head Coach of Developmental Emily Copeland

My name is Emily Copeland, and I’m so excited to be coaching the Developmental Team this year! I’m a rising sophomore at Elon University majoring in psychology, and I’m a new member of Sigma Kappa sorority. I’ve been a part of the Sea Devils almost my entire life. I was in the dev program for 2 years, on the competitive team for 10, a peer coach for 3 years, and an assistant coach for the 8 & Unders for 2 years. Swimming and coaching have been such important parts of my life for so long, and I can’t wait to return home to the team this summer! Go Sea Devils!

Assistant Coach Cassie Rozman

Hey there everyone! My name is Cassie Rozman, and I am a rising Junior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Go Vols! I am a business major studying Supply Chain Management, and I am also a Cadet within my schools Army ROTC program in hopes to commission as a 2nd Lieutenant within the United States Army. In addition, I work a part-time job as an Educator at Lululemon here in Knoxville. I have grown up in Virginia pretty much my whole life and swimming has been a huge part of my life ever since I was six years old. I started swimming on the Braemar Blasters Swim Team and Karen Blocker was my first ever coach! I began to fall in love with the sport and started to swim competitively at the age of nine. I swam on various teams to include, NCAP, the Quantico Devil Dolphins, Riptide, and Occoquan Swim Team. I also swam throughout High School at Brentsville District High School. Sadly, I hung up my cap and goggles upon my Senior year season back in 2020 but my love for the sport never diminished. I had always looked up to my coaches and knew that I wanted to fill their shoes one day. I started coaching as a swimmer coach on the Braemar Blasters when I was 13 as a volunteer coach and from there have continued to coach throughout the years! I also have given one-on-one lessons teaching little ones how to swim and working on technique with swimmers on various teams.  Outside of the pool, I love to workout, I am an adventurer at heart (fishing, kayaking, & hiking), I play guitar, I love country music, and, of course, I love spending time with my family (and dog Tino!). I am so excited for this opportunity to coach and be a Virginia Oaks Sea Devil! I cannot wait to meet each one of you. See you on the pool deck soon!

Assistant Coach Olivia Santee

My name is Olivia Santee. I am excited to be joining the coaching staff for Virginia Oaks this year! Coach Karen was my first coach when I began swimming at the age of five for the Braemar Blasters. I having been coaching in various capacities for the last six years and am excited to be coaching with her again. Growing up I swam for NCAP and Patriot High School. I have just completed my junior year at Indiana University of Pennsylvania where I am a member of the swim and dive team. I am working towards a dual major in Criminology and Asian Studies with minors in History and Homeland Security. When not swimming, I can be found reading or enjoying a sweet treat. I love watching swimmers progress throughout the season and hope to instill a similar love for the sport that I have. Let’s go Sea Devils!
