Summer Committee Opportunities

Feb 12, 2019

Good Morning Sea Devils! Thank you to those of you that have inquired about the 2019 Summer Swim team Committee opportunities. A list of the details about the committees has been put together. Please take a couple of minutes to look at the committee descriptions to see if there is one that you would like to help out with this summer. Thank you!

SPIRIT NIGHT VOLUNTEER (Friday night before a Home swim meet)
there are 3 spirit nights this year (June 21st, July 12th, July 19th)

~plan a fun inexpensive group activity for the swim team the night before the home meet.  The activity should be one appropriate for all age groups or involve the older team members helping the smaller ones.  Assistant Coaches are available to help at the event.
~create a sign up Genius indicating what food items will be needed for the night.  Send sign up to communications person for distribution by email.
~purchase supplies for Friday night activity, be available to set up necessary items and have ready to go for 6:30pm start time. (Assistant Coaches available to help as well)

CONCESSIONS: (duties will be split between people so that one person is not left doing the whole meet)
(we have 3 home meets and Time trials this year June 8th, June 22nd, July13th, July 20th)

~week of the Home meet obtain shopping list and buy items necessary for the Saturday meet
~order donuts, coffee and assign someone to pick up Saturday morning usually before 6am
~arrive at the pool at or before 6am to set-up concessions table etc.
~sell concession items during meet (will have sign up shifts for this so it is not left to one family/person)
~help break down concessions table/items pack up for the next home meet. Do a brief inventory (shopping list)of items needed for the next home meet.

Fundraising Volunteer:

  • Help to secure “swim team sponsors” – reach out to local businesses to ask if they would like to be a sponsor, explain levels of sponsorship, get their logo for t-shirts, etc.
  • Coordinate spirit nights at local restaurants (contact restaurant, fill out forms, send out reminders / fliers)
  • Brainstorm / help coordinate other fundraising activities throughout the season such as raffles, selling carwash cards, etc.

Time commitment:  varies, but typically 5-10 hours over the swim season
