Calvin is aiming for the league record in this event and can’t wait to bring his experience as a swimmer into coaching. This is Calvin’s first year coaching and he is looking forward to an exciting season.

Hi, I’m Coach Camille and I have been swimming in SSL since I was seven and have been on the Stingrays since I was twelve. I will be a junior this fall at C.K. McClatchy High School where I also swim for their team. My favorite stroke is backstroke but my favorite event is the 500 free. This is my first year coaching and I am really excited to help the younger kids perfect their strokes, starts and turns so they can reach their goals this season. When I am not swimming, I enjoy running both independently and for my school’s cross country team, attempting to read through Belle Cooledge Library’s entire teen fiction section, and studying history, specifically behind art and architecture. I am super excited to join the Stingrays coaching staff and I am looking forward to a successful season!

Coach Grant attends John F. Kennedy High School, he is in the class of 2019. Coach Grant is a longtime Stingray. He started swimming with the team when he was 6 years old, and has been swimming ever since! He has coached for one year with his first year coaching with the Stingrays last year. His favorite event is the 50-yard freestyle. He says he got hooked on freestyle sprints after setting the league record for 6 and under his first season as a swimmer. As one of the swimmer/coaches this year, he is looking forward to getting to know the younger Stingrays and helping them develop the same passion for swimming that he has.

Coach Matthew will be a senior this fall at JFK. A Stingrays swimmer since he was seven, he currently holds records in the 100 Fly (15-18) and the 200 Free Relay (15-18). Matthew also swims for the JFK Swim Team, where over the past three years, he and his teammates have smashed several 25+ year old JV and Varsity school records. When he’s not swimming, Matthew enjoys playing the piano and composing music. He is also a member of the JFK Marching Band where he plays the tenor sax and is a section leader. Matthew is thankful for the opportunity of being a Stingrays coach and mentoring our young swimmers. Go Stingrays! |
