Patrick Johnston - Head Coach

Coach Patrick Johnston started swimming under USA swimming at age 13 with the Dublin Community Swim Team (DCST-Ohio).  He swam for St. Charles Preparatory School earning Academic All-American.  He was recruited to swim for Dartmouth College and graduated in 2008 with a degree in Psychology. 

Patrick started his coaching career with DCST upon graduating from college.  After graduating from Capital Law School, he began coaching with Dublin Jerome High School in addition to DCST.  As the lead coach for 9-10’s, the DCST boys won the Ohio Age Group Championship 3 times while the girls placed as high as 2nd.  Patrick's athletes included multiple Ohio Age Group Champion event winners, including a High Point Champion, three Eastern Zone Champions, and a High Point Zone Runner-Up.  With Jerome High School, Coach Patrick had multiple swimmers continue to swim in college, including Indiana University and Ohio State. Under Coach Patrick's leadership, Jerome had 10 All-American awards, 34 All-Ohio Recipients, two District titles, a State Championship relay, and two State Champion Runner-ups.

Daniel Harris - Assistant Coach

 

Kelly Noland - Assistant Coach

Coach Kelly started swimming before she could walk in Hawaii. She started competitively swimming at age 6 for the Oahu Swim Club under Olympic Swimmer, Rowdy Gaines. Through her time in Hawaii, she became a top Breaststroker in the state and also attended Zones and Far Westerns. At age 12 she moved to Southern California and swam for the Mission Viejo Nadadores through the rest of her club swimming career under Head Coach Bill Rose. During High School she made it to CIF Division 1 finals in a different event all four years and earned All-American awards. Southern California was full of Olmypians and it was normal to have Olympians swim in her races. 

 
After High School Kelly attended Saddleback college (junior college) and swam for them for 2 years before transferring to San Jose State University and finishing her career there. 
 
Coach Kelly has been doing swim lessons and coaching since 2002. Since then she's coached at Saddleback College; and was the Novice, Transition and Satellite Director at the Mission Viejo Nadadores. After getting married, Kelly and her husband moved to McAllen, Texas where she was the Swim Director of McAllen Swim Club. After Texas, they moved to Sahuarita where she became a coach at the Stingrays in 2016. She also coaches the Sahuarita High School Swim Team. In her years of coaching, Coach Kelly has had High-Point Winners, Zone Athletes, Far Western Athletes, USA Swimming Virtual Meet top swimmers, club swimming State Winners, High School State Finalist, Team Record Breakers, All-American Athletes, and atheltes continuing to College Swimming. 
 
On her off time she enjoys time with her husband, daughter, family and friends. She also has a circuit maker and loves to craft when she has free time. 

 

Sam Bryson - Assistant Coach

Coach Sam is a Freshman attending the University of Arizona, studying Nursing.  She began swimming with the Stingrays at the age of 10 and swam for both the Stingrays and the Sahuarita High School Mustangs.  Sam enjoys both coaching and teaching swim lessons to new and developing swimmers.  

When she's not on deck, Sam enjoys spending time with friends and family, reading, creating art, and woodworking.

Coach Sam joined the Stingrays coaching staff in August 2019.

Shane Clark - Jr Coach

Coach Shane is a junior attending Walden Grove High School. Shane has been with the Stingray Program since he was six years old starting as a swimmer and now helps the next generation of swimmers discover their love for swimming. "I've always wanted to be able to give back to the team that I grew up with. This team has given me some amazing experiences throughout my childhood and I hope to help give that experience to the swimmers on this team!" 

Away from the pool, Coach Shane plays the trumpet in the Red Wolf regiment and in the Walden Grove Band. He enjoys hanging out with his friends, hiking, rock climbing and mountain biking. 

 

Michelle Malin - Jr Coach

Coach Michelle is a Senior at Walden Grove High School. She recently moved here from Southern California and joined the Stingray's coaching staff in June 2021.
