Sahuarita Stingrays Lessons

Swim Lessons will be finishing up at the end of July and will resume in Summer 2022.

Private lessons will be available per request (contact [email protected])

Stingray Swim Lessons are broken into 2 easy to identify categories: Beginner Level (focusing on teaching basic water safety) and Learn to Swim (focusing on teaching basic swimming on the belly and back). No evaluations are needed for lessons, we have a short questionnaire in the level description for you to double check which level is best for your little ones.

Lessons are 20 minutes long and each lesson has 2 swimmers. This allows for proper social distancing while in the water and the swimmers end up getting more individual attention and more frequent practice during each lesson. Lessons are scheduled in weekly blocks of 4 lessons ($70/swimmer).

FAQ
How old does my child need to be to participate in lessons?
Swimmers must be at least 4 years old to participate in the Swim Lesson Program. The program is intended to teach young swimmers the basics of being safe in the water and then the basic swim strokes.

What do my swimmer(s) need for their lessons?
All swimmers need for lessons is an appropriate swimsuit and we very strongly recommend goggles.

What if I can't make one of the 4 lessons in the weekly block?
When registering for the weekly block of lessons, please be sure you can commit to each lesson. We do not offer refunds for missed classes.

How long will my child need lessons for?
It depends. Every child is different and takes different amounts of time to learn skills. For the most progress in the shortest amount of time, we recommend frequent lessons (the more you put into it, the more progress you're likely to see). Our goal is to teach your swimmers so they no longer need lessons and are ready to practice their skills on the swim program or just playing in the pool (and to do so in a time frame that is friendly on the family budget).

What kind of COVID-19 Policies/Restrictions do I need to be aware of?
  • Face Mask Policy: As of July 10th, Face Masks are now optional when inside the Sahuarita Aquatic Center as per the SUSD policy change.
  • Closed Pool Deck Policy: We are allowing Swim Lesson Families/Parents into the facility. However, if parents are too close to the pool deck, this can interfere with the lesson. The green turf areas and the covered benches are the designated parent observation areas. If there are special circumstances that would make this separation more difficult for the swimmer(s), please let us know and we can work to find a solution on an individual basis.
