I?m brand new to swimming, is this for me/my child?

This class is meant for new swimmers learning the basics of swimming and is designed to begin preparing swimmers for the swim team environment. Every great athlete had to start at the beginning and learn the fundamentals. This 6-week swim class will cover the basics of the common strokes and basic skills swim team members use all the time. Technical instruction takes priority over conditioning; before swimmers can practice their swim skills they need to learn them first! The class is divided by age so swimmers will learn an age appropriate curriculum to prepare them for the full swim team.

Practice Procedures During COVID-19

  • Mask Policy - Swimmers are required to wear masks upon entering the facility until instructed to enter the pool as well as putting their mask on when getting ready to leave the facility.
  • Closed Deck Policy  Only Swimmers and coaches are allowed to enter the facility at this time.
  • Drop-Off/Pick-Up  Please be on time! Swimmers who are more than 5 minutes late may be turned away from practice. We ask parents to be in the parking lot 5 minutes before practice starts and ends. Swimmers need to be let into the pool by a coach and have their temperature checked before joining practice. If swimmers are late, this takes a coach away from the pool and the rest of the swimmers.
  • Swimmers will have their temperature taken prior to entering the facility.
  • Please come to class ready to swim with suits on.
  • Locker rooms are closed for changing.
  • Bathroom use is limited to EMERGENCIES only. We ask that you remind your swimmers to use the restrooms prior to coming to practice and to plan to change and shower at home.
  • No refunds are issued for missed classes, bad weather, facility issues, etc.

What to Bring?

  • Swimmers are encouraged to wear appropriate swim suits to practice. Swim shirts, shorts, and 2-piece bathing suits are discouraged as the extra baggage/drag in the water impedes swimmers and make learning skills more difficult. Boys are recommended to wear a jammer style swim suit; girls are encouraged to wear a single piece swim suit. Suits may be purchased at swimoutlet.com.
  • Please bring a towel and a pair of goggles to each practice in addition to their swim suits.
  • Swimmers with long hair are encouraged to wear swim caps to keep their hair out of their faces while swimming. Stingray swim caps are available for purchase for $10 billed to your account (pool pick-up).
  • Water Bottle: Proper hydration is important for athlete health, safety, and performance. We recommend a water bottle that will keep fluids cool (Hydroflask or similar is encouraged). Water is the preferred drink of choice to keep swimmers hydrated and they should be encouraged to sip water regularly and throughout the class.
