2020 Dues & Opening Date

Greg Goldstein

OVSC Membership,

We hope this email finds you and your family well.  Given the current phased approach to re-opening our state we wanted to give you an update on dues, opening plan, teams  and the building project.

Dues

With the delay in opening the board has analyzed the 2020 operating budget to find ways to save money this season. Many of the expenses at the pool are fixed costs that will remain unchanged whether we open or not.  Due to the restrictions on events and group sizes the pool is expecting a loss of income of at least 35%. This income typically comes from rentals, guest fees, camps, teams and lessons.  This loss of income is significant for our pool.  In order to maintain the facility and meet our financial obligations the board has determined that we will need to collect dues in full.  All dues payments will be due by  Wednesday, May 20. If you have already paid, thank you. If you haven’t already our bookkeeper will send you an invoice reminder. If you have questions regarding your payment please reach out to Jessica Armstrong - Bookkeeper ([email protected]).

Opening Plan

We are closely watching the dates for the governor’s phased in approach for re-opening our state. OVSC falls under Phase 3 for a partial re-opening and Phase 4 for a full re-opening.  We are anticipating that we will be able to open for at least a portion of the summer. The open hours, activities and operation of the pool will look significantly different for 2020 due to social distancing restrictions. As we approach an opening date we will send more information hours and about how you can help us keep everyone safe at the pool. Brian Riggs and Robert Parker, our facilities team, are hard at work ensuring the pool will be ready as soon as we can open.

Teams

We are working closely with the leagues involved with our summer teams.  With guidance from the leagues and support from the board we are hopeful that we’ll have some type of team offering for our members.  As we approach an opening date we will share more information.  Huge thank you to Haley Ballast, Aimee Lloyd, Coleen Auxier and Tiffany Baisch as they work with the leagues to coordinate what a season could look like this year to keep all members safe.

Building Project

The board and building committee are still moving forward with this project.  Since the last update the board has secured financing for the project and is working with the contractor and architect to complete the necessary steps for the project to begin in September as originally planned. We had hoped to hold a membership meeting to update everyone in June, but this doesn’t seem likely given the social gathering restrictions. We will have a virtual information session in the next couple of weeks. We will share an update and have an opportunity for you to ask questions. Watch for an email with more information.

We are experiencing an unprecedented time and the board has been working hard to keep the pool running smoothly and prepare to open for the 2020 season. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

We hope to see you at the pool soon.
