Season Kick-off Letter from the President

Welcome to 2019 at the Arb!

Dear AHSTC Otters,

I don't know about you, but as I was shoveling snow earlier this month my mind kept drifting off, dreaming of warmer, sunny days by the pool!

The good news is that the opening of the Arbor Heights Swim & Tennis Club's 58th season is right around the corner! And, everything points to another fantastic summer of fun.

The bad news is that it appears will not be able to begin construction of our much-needed facilities renovations until after the pool closes this fall. As of this writing, we still do not have our permit approval from the City of Seattle, despite that fact that they were submitted before Thanksgiving! We are hopeful that we will receive final approval in the coming weeks. If we do, we will work with our contractor to build the new south deck outlined in the improvement plans. By pushing the fence line south and building this new raised deck, we will provide additional seating area and a little more elbow room on those crowded sunny and hot days. But, even that is in question. We should know whether that is possible in the days to come.

While this is disappointing, I hope it doesn't dampen your excitement for the upcoming summer. Membership renewal notices are out now. Based on your feedback, we have revised the volunteer program. Please make a note of these changes.

We look forward to seeing many of you during Clean Up Days (May 4 & 5) and at the club’s Opening Day Potluck on May 11!

Go Otters,

Alex Pietsch, President
