TENNIS LESSON LEVELS

At Marine Hills Swim & Tennis Club (MHSTC), swim Lessons are for everyone!

Swim Lesson Registration will open after our 60th Annual Opening Day Celebration on May 20, 2023.

 

Beginner (Youth)

For children ages 5-11 with no or very little formal tennis experience.  Classes will introduce and develop basic skills, including how to hold a racquet and how to hit groundstrokes and volleys.  Drills will focus on developing the fundamental footwork and racquet control to start playing! Students are encouraged to bring their own racquet, but loaners will be available for those without. Students should wear supportive court shoes and comfortable attire. Bringing water bottles is encouraged.

 

Beginner (Teen)

For children ages 12-18 with no or very little formal tennis experience.  Classes will introduce and develop basic skills, including how to hold a racquet and how to hit groundstrokes and volleys.  Drills will focus on developing the fundamental footwork and racquet control to start playing!  Students are encouraged to bring their own racquet, but loaners will be available for those without. Students should wear supportive court shoes and comfortable attire. Bringing water bottles is encouraged.

 

Intermediate

For children ages with enough formal tennis experience to consistently rally with both forehands and backhands and serve a ball from either side of the court three in four attempts.  This class will help build on core skills while focusing on developing pace and spin on serves and strokes while maintaining control.  Shot focus will be on full court play, including groundstrokes, volleys, serves, lobs and smashes.  Students should provide their own racquets and were court appropriate attire.  Bringing water bottles is recommended.

 

Advanced

For children already playing at a varsity or competitive tournament level.  This class will help further develop your game for competitive play with an emphasis on developing shot placement and on-the-court strategy.  Points play will be emphasized over drills, with particular focus on well-rounded play.  Students should provide their own racquets and were court appropriate attire.  Bringing water bottles is recommended.
