Santa Teresa Sea Otters

Sara Seipert

As many of you can imagine, your Sea Otters Board is disheartened at the cancellation of the League Season.  That being said, I want you to know that your Board has not given up trying to produce something for you this Summer.  As we’ve stated previously, “we don’t know what we don’t know,” but what we do know is that we are brimming with ideas!! We will continue to monitor the ever-changing Public Health orders, and as soon as we can develop a plan for the Summer, we will share that with you so you can decide if you want to join us and continue to foster the amazing Sea Otters community spirit!

What will happen now?

  1. We will refund everyone’s current 2020 registration, including all processing fees.  Jennifer Fusilero, our Registration Lead, is working as quickly as possible to process your refunds.  Please refrain from inundating her with email right now.  If for some reason, you don’t see your refund by the end of May, then feel free to contact her at
  2. Your Sea Otters Board will continue planning for something this Summer, keeping in mind the health and well-being of our coaches, swimmers and families. As soon as we have something to share, we will communicate to all of you, and if you want to participate (which we hope you will), you will have the opportunity to register. Knowing whatever happens will result in a changed, shortened season, there will be a discounted registration fee to cover coaches pay and insurance. (We may start sometime in June and go through the end of July…I mean, really, none of us are going anywhere!)
  3. We are still going to create a team t-shirt for 2020.  We have a couple of fun swimmer designs to choose from, to put on our spirit shirt, and really, won’t you want something to commemorate this unprecedented season?  We’ll send out an order form and payment details soon. Be on the lookout for that!
  4. And keeping in mind our Seniors, we want to do something for them.  Regardless of what the team gets to do, we want to honor our Seniors in a meaningful way. If you are interested in volunteering to help with our Senior dedication, please contact me at

I know the League outcome isn’t what any of us wanted, but this is a historic time, so all we can do is to be hopeful and work towards something positive for our kids and our Sea Otters community in the coming months.

I hope all of you, and your families, continue to be safe. I think of all of you, daily, and am eager to see you all in person, as soon as we can make that happen.

If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at

With positivity and an open-mind,
