Coach Wendy's Welcome Back Letter

Broadstone Barracudas

We are thrilled to welcome you back for our 2020 swim season! As we reunite this year, I am
excited to continue our journey of being the best team we can possibly be. Doing so will require
us to remain focused on building a strong community where we grow our passion for the sport
of swimming, teach proper swim technique and have fun being competitive.

I also want to take this opportunity to reiterate my coaching philosophy and layout our goals for
this season.

While I am uncertain of its source, the following quote has always resonated with me: “I am a
coach because of the kids and the passion I have for the sport itself. There is no other feeling
quite like helping young athletes further develop their natural persistence, determination,
discipline, dedication, resiliency, work ethic, heart, leadership skills, connection with, and
respect for, others, not only in competition, but in life.” I am a strong believer in this process.
My goal as a coach is to create a program where swimmers learn to swim proper technique in
all four strokes, in their turns and dives. I strive to make each day at practice a place where
swimmers can learn and have fun; this is a game of improving.

We have achieved many of our goals and enjoyed much “success” over the past couple of
years, as measured by dual meet wins, league championships, and strong MOC finishes.
Another goal I want to improve on is having a stronger retention rate, especially among our
younger swimmers. We are only as strong as our pipeline of swimmers, from Jr. Barracudas
through our 18 year olds. Our coaching staff hopes you will be excited to continue growing with
