Folsom Sea Otters & Jr. Otters 2023 Season!

PLEASE register all of your swimmers at one time
to receive the multi-swimmer discount.

Priority Registration January 21-31, 2023: All RETURNING swimmers and their siblings are invited to sign up during this time.

Open Registration February 1-28, 2023: All NEW swimmers (and returning swimmers who missed priority registration) are invited to sign up during this time. Due to limited lane space available this year, swimmers will only receive a spot as long as there is room left in an age group, so sign up early!

Late Registration March 1 – March 31, 2023: A late fee of $25 per swimmer (aged 4-14) will apply, and registration will only be processed if space is available in the swimmer’s age group.

Late, Late Registration after March 31, 2023: The late fee increases another $25 (total of $50 over Open Registration) for swimmers aged 4-14, and registration will only be processed if space is available in the swimmer’s age group.

High School Swimmers (age 15-18): – For swimmers in this age group the fee remains the same throughout the registration process.

Water Safety Check

• All NEW swimmers, including those registered for the Jr. Otters Program (see below), must pass a Water Safety Check to secure a spot on the team. The Water Safety Check will be held at the Steve Miklos Aquatic Center on March 20, 2023.
• Any new swimmers who previously swam for a USA swim team, High School team, and/or a different team in a prior season may be allowed to bypass our Water Safety Check upon verification and approval by team personnel. Please provide this information to our Registrar during the registration process.

2023 Jr. Otters Program (May 31 through July 7)

The Jr. Otters program is a developmental swim program for children ages 4-6 (age on June 15, 2023) who are water safe but may not be ready for the full swim team experience. Over 6 weeks, children will be taught the skills to become effective in swimming freestyle and backstroke. Many children will progress to diving, and all will have the opportunity to swim in a swim meet on July 8, 2023. Each practice will start and/or end with a game or fun activity.

This program is recommended when young children struggle to pass our Water Safety Check. Proficient swimmers who pass our Water Safety Check are ready for swim team and will not benefit from this program; those swimmers will be asked to register for the Folsom Sea Otters swim team.  

• Swimmers who previously completed one year of Jr. Otters are not eligible to participate in the Jr. Otters program again and are asked to join the Folsom Sea Otters swim team.

2023 Registration Fees and Payment Options

Multi-swimmer discounts are offered for swimmers ages 4-14 (excluding those in the Jr. Otters program). All swimmers aged 15-18 receive a reduced fee, and no other discounts apply. Please see the chart below for current registration fees and payment plan fees.

Payment - The Folsom Sea Otters swim team will only accept payment by credit card or debit card for the 2023 registration process; members will be required to enter their credit/debit card information during registration. This is required for all members and will only be used for registration payments as described below. The payment description is as follows:

• Full Payment Option – members will pay the full amount during the registration check-out step, and the credit/debit will be charged at that time. The registration fees are slightly lower for this payment option and include multi-swimmer discounts, if applicable. The full payment option is available for all registration periods including late registration, which will include a late fee.

• Payment Plan Option - members will pay the registration fee over three installments. The remaining balance will be paid on March 1 and April 1 via an auto payment to the credit/debit card on file. Note: The multi-swimmer discount is applied at the first payment. 
  • This option will only be available during the Priority and Open (Jan 21 - Feb 28) registration periods. As of March 1st, you will NOT be able to select the payment plan option and a late fee will apply.
• Late Fees – As of March 1, the registration fee goes up $25 per swimmer aged 4-14. As of April 1, the registration fee goes up another $25 ($50 increase over Open Registration fee) for swimmers aged 4-14.

Scholarships/FAA Youth Assistance Fund

The Folsom Sea Otters/FAA Youth Assistance Fund program is designed to help those families in financial need. Applicants must be a Folsom resident. The application is not a guarantee of financial assistance. Applications and scholarships are submitted per swimmer, not family. If a swimmer is approved, the scholarship fees are applied only to that swimmer’s registration fees. All applications must be submitted to Folsom Sea Otters. REFUND/DROP POLICY

Swimmers who decide to leave the Folsom Sea Otters Swim Team must provide written notice to the Folsom Sea Otters Board no later than April 23, 2023.

A 75% refund of the registration fees will be given if you decide to leave the team from January 21, 2023 thru March 29, 2023. 

A 50% refund will be given if you decide to leave the team (according to the guidelines above) from March 30, 2023 thru April 23, 2023.

New swimmers who do not pass the Water Safety Check will receive a full refund of their registration fees, less a $50 processing fee.

No refunds will be given after April 23, 2023, no exceptions.

Any participant in the Jr. Otters program that decides to leave the team must provide written notice to the Folsom Sea Otter Board no later than May 30, 2023, and shall receive a 50% refund of their registration fees. 

New Jr. Otters swimmers who do not pass the Water Safety Check will receive a full refund of their registration fees, less a $50 processing fee. 

No Jr. Otters refunds will be given after May 30, 2023, no exceptions.
