The Benicia Stingrays are looking for a part-time Assistant Swim Coach with a love of swimming and at least one year of competitive swimming or coaching experience for Spring/Summer 2023.
Job Overview:
The Assistant Swim Coach will collaborate with the Head Coach and work with our youth recreational swim team. Coaches will welcome and encourage youth to improve their all-around swimming ability including technique, strength, conditioning, and safety. The position requires Monday-Thursday evening practices from late March to early June and morning/early afternoon practice from early June to the end of July. Swim meets are most Saturdays from June to the end of July, with a couple of Wednesday evening and Sunday meets.
Responsibilities
- Teach proper skills and techniques for swimming
- Ensure the safety of swimmers, which includes incident prevention, response, and reporting
- Write workouts including drills and coach with positivity and enthusiasm
- Enforce club and pool rules while providing a high level of customer service to members and their guests
Requirements
- Must have at least one year of competitive swimming or coaching experience
- Knowledge and ability to teach all ages the proper skills and techniques of swimming
- Enthusiastic, responsible, self-motivated, and team-oriented
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate motivation and patience with children of all ages
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification preferred
- Ability to pass a background check

Pay commensurate upon experience
Work Location: James Lemos Pool in Benicia for practice; meets held in Napa, Contra Costa, and Solano Counties
Swim Meets: Must have transportation to various locations for meets
