Coaches and Directors
Coach MJ returns as the Head Coach of Cary Park for his second season with the Sea Dragons. He is a rising junior at UNC Chapel Hill majoring in Computer Science and Statistics. In the 2019 season, the Sea Dragons earned Division 1 and Cary City championships, and finished as the highest placed southern league team at the TSA Championships. Coach MJ brings swimming experience as a former captain of the Apex High Varsity Swim Team, as a former national level swimmer for the TAC Titans, as a Head Coach for the Charleston Village Crocodiles, and as a Collegiate Club Swimmer at UNC. He is looking forward to leading our swimmers to a season full of fun and success!
Coach Ronna brings well over 20
years of swim team development and coaching experience to the Cary
Park Sea Dragons. Over that time frame, Ronna has coached and
instructed swimmers across all age groups on USA Swimming
sanctioned clubs, competitive summer league teams, and high schools
in Indiana and North Carolina.
She is well versed in all aspects of
team development and brings a special focus on the skills critical
to a swimmer's advancement. In younger swimmers, she works on
technique, building confidence in their abilities, and instills
enthusiasm for the sport. All of Coach Ronna's swimmers develop a
love of the water and a camaraderie with their teammates - making
swimming a fun and rewarding aspect of their lives!
Coach Chris is graduated from Panther Creek High School with the awesome Class of 2020!! He has been swimming year-round for New Wave Swim Team for 9 years. He also swam for the Cary Park Sea Dragons for 4 years from ages 9-13. His favorites strokes to swim are butterfly and freestyle but he loves teaching all strokes. Being able to coach for the Cary Park Sea Dragons has been one of his goals since he started with our team. He is in his 3rd year Assistant Coaching for the Sea Dragons. He is excited to continue the success Cary Park has had along with sharing the love he has for swimming! Go Sea Dragons! Coach Chris plans to attend Rollins College in Florida where he also plans to swim with the Tars!
Coach Katy joins us this year in her 12th year as a Cary Park Sea Dragon! She just graduated from Cardinal Gibbons H.S. and is a National Honor Society member and Honor Roll Student. Katy will be attending NC State in the fall. Katy brings a lot of swim experience to our team as she has been a year-round swimmer with Wave for the past 8 years. She loves swimming and also enjoys keeping it positive throughout! She is so excited to return to our Coaching Staff, and she looks forward to connecting with all the swimmers because summer swimming is where it started for her too!
Coach Camden returns for his second year as an assistant coach with the Sea Dragons! He was the 2018 Sea Dragon of the Year and has been a Sea Dragon for 6 years. Coach Camden is a rising junior at Green Level High School, as well as an Eagle Scout with Boys Scouts of America. Not only that, he is the founder of a delivery shoe shine business.
Coach Katie T. is a rising Junior at Green Level High School and was the caption of the Green Level Dance Team of the 2019-2020 school year. She has been a swimmer on the Cary Park Swim Team for 6 years and was an Assistant Coach last year. She has loved swimming with and coaching the Sea Dragons. She has been a dance teacher assistant at Starpath Dance Academy for 5 years, and a member of the National Charity League since 2015. Looking forward to the 2020 season!!
Coach Meaghan is a rising junior at Green Level High School and is very excited for her first season as a coach. She has been swimming for the team for 9 years and was a Junior Coach last year. She is the captain for the Green Level Color Guard and a member of the National Charity League. She is excited to return as a coach this season, lets make this the best one yet!
This is Cynthia's first season as the CPSD BOD Presisent, and she is super excited for the season to get underway! Cynthia brings a wealth of experience as a swimmer and swim instructor to the team, and she is eager to share her love of swimming with age group swimmers. A competitive swimmer since the age of 8, Cynthia swam with Suburban Seahalks Club in PA, as well as in high school and at the collegiate level for Mount Holyoke College (Div. III). Her favorite stroke is breaststroke, and she continues to swim competively as a Masters Swimmer. After college, Cynthia was a volunteer Assistant Coach at Mount Holyoke College (Div. III) for one season, and she was a swim instructor with Atlantis Swim School in 2005. Cynthia holds current Red Cross Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First-Aid Certifications and is certified as a Summer League Swim Coach by the American Swim Coaches Association. Cynthia was previously a Certified Personal Trainer with the American Council on Exercise and is a former member of the American Nutrition Society, the American Diabetes Association, and the American Heart Association. Cynthia graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2007 with a PhD in Nutrition. She currently works at Duke University as a Program Manager for the Duke Human Vaccine Institute.
